Rarest sightings?
I ran across this slate dial serti dial two-tone Sub and didn't even know it existed and I'm blown away - absolutely stunning and I'm not normally a serti dial fan. If anyone here has one, post your pics
Otherwise, what other rare beauties are there out there? In the name of all that's WIS, lets see your rarely seen Rolex models and other great brands too! Pic not mine from the web The Rolex Cowboy |

To be honest I don't know if this is a genuine "from the factory" right handed Sub but it's a very easy mod to do on any Rolex

I've seen a serti Sub, 18K Daytona and several 18K Subs.

I really like the TT Serti Sub too. I fell for the Champaign Serti Dial as I like the gold and blue combination. The Slate dial like the one in your picture can definitely be found for sale if you are looking. Nice to see your enthusiasm and appreciation for Rolex!

I just can't wrap my mind around it being easy. If you rotate the movement 180 degrees, the date will be upside down. What am I missing?

You don't rotate the movement, you rotate the dial

Absolutely
The date would show up on the opposite side upside down but the dial and window will also be opposite and upside down. Once you set the date it still turns clockwise and in numerical order

Think there are a few pictures on forum, but there have been only very small numbers of left hand wind watches made by Rolex a few Subs, SD and DJs .They only made a few in S.Steel and just a very small number in 18kt gold subs only. Plus some that were specially made for the left handed Comex divers. And a very small amount of the DJs were specially made in the mid and very late 1950s. Plus some manual wind Oysterdates not as rare as the DJ but still collectible and now as rare as hens teeth.Plus some watches were converted by a non Rolex source now these are not as collectible as the genuine Rolex ones so be careful when buying.
This is just a list of the most popular there are many many more that I would consider as being rare some more than others. Model 6429 Steel Oyster Commando. Any early 1930s- 40s Rolex Prince. Any of the old Rolex chronographs 6236 etc COMEX Submariner or SD Early cushion case bubblebacks. Model 6202 Turn-O-Graph. Any Rolex Military Submariner like say 5510 5517. Single Red double red Subs SD. Early Rolex Kew A class Oyster chronometers. Any of the left hand wind Rolex watches Subs or Datejust. Any early Milguas watches. Rare very early GMTs. Orange hand Explorers Early 60s Explorer dates like the Airkings TT are very rare Daytona 6239 6263/5 etc.getting rarer to find in market Early Rolex watches made only for Canadian market 1939-45 military watches Rolex Turtle Timer Airking dates with the roulette date wheels Rolex Date and Triple date with Moonphase. Rolex Viceroy. Rolex Tudor military subs. Any pre 1988 Rolex sports watch with say a Sultans emblem. Cartier/Tiffany branded Rolex watches. Panama Canal special Rolex subs. Rolex Tudor Monte Carlo Chronograph ref 7159 Rolex Tudor ranger alarm. Most early Rolex subs.6200/6536/6205/5/6538/5512/3. First Oyster quartz 5100 Beta 21 movement.

A mod of some sort would be necessary. Either a special datewheel, or a modified click spring that would hold the date in a slightly different position. |

Just curious though, what made you specifically put the 7159 on your list? I thought there were a few other tudor chronos from the 70s that were more rare. |
