GMT IIc TT VS Submariner TT ... Opinion pls
Hi all, I need your opinion about this two because I am going to buy one soon. Which one you rather go with? GMT IIc TT or Submariner TT? Why GMT IIc TT is more expensive than the Submariner TT? Is that because of the quality? Or ... Can anyone give me suggestion? Thanks ...

These two watches seem to cause some indecision for more than a few members.
The price difference probably stems from the extra complication in tlhe GMTc movement but most likely from the ceramic bezel and the "newer" design. There is absolutely no quality difference. To me it's a matter of personal taste. The GMT has the latest "block" case and a machined clasp rather than the narrower tapered lugs and traditional clasp of the Sub. For me, it's the block case that turns me off of the GMT and nothing else.. I would always go for the traditional TT Sub......make mine Black please.

TT Blue Sub for me, they got it perfect. However, if they had a TT Blue GMT, I'd consider it.

I went through the same thing - took me about a month to finally decide on the TT Blue Sub. There is something about that Blue Dial...

tt sub, i just dont like the ceramic bezel and big font on the gmt IIc bezel. It reminds me of the formula tag.

I have never been a fan of a TT watch.
That is until I saw the GMT IIc Then I changed my mind, it is a real beautiful looking watch, especially with the ceramic bezel Neil - OYSTERMANN has got a one and its looks great. Now over to you Neil, for the photos!!!!

I think it depends on what you are using the watch for. I use mine for multi-time zones daily. The accuracy of the current GMTIIc is better than the current sub. IMO blue watches look great on the girls at the beach and no one else.

Personally I like the TT GMT IIc, I own one and it doesn't look blocky. But isn't Rolex super casing all the new Subs. Starting with the solid gold models, as per what was presented in Basel 2008. The ceramic bezel is what sold me on one. |

Hard one here -- both awesome watches.
I have a SG Sub Bluesy and a TT GMT-IIC. I'd give a nod to the GMT. I really like the second TZ and if you travel a lot that's a nice feature. Both bracelets are nice, but the GMT-IIC bracelet is clearly better made and the half link adjustment is a very nice feature. If you buy TT, you get solid gold center links in the GMT, but hollow gold links on the current TT Sub. The ceramic bezel is expensive to replace if broken, but it very solid and good looking. Of course, the asthetics are a personnel issue, some find the GMT-IIC bezels "oversized" or dislike the resulting color of the gold vaporized onto the black ceramic. I find it to be fine. You can't go wrong with either movement, but the GMT-IIC is based on the Sub and has improvements that are planned for the new Subs such as the Parachrom spring. If you fall for the great blue dial and bezel on the Sub no one could fault you. It will likely take a few years before the Sub-II is offered in TT/ SS, but the new SG models introduced this year seem to have a less attractive color in the ceramic bezel. Regarding price. I think both are roughly the same if you talk apples and apples. If you go with an all gold Sub and an all gold GMT-IIC, the price difference is $300. You get a lot of improvements--improvements already identified as coming to the new Subs-- in the GMT-IIC for a small amt of money. |

To each his own, that's exactly what I love about my TT GMT IIc. The ceramic bezel is a thing of beauty. In the end, you can't go wrong either way. Robert |

Here you go. Here's living proof that inquiring minds will always go with the TT GMT IIc:
You can't go wrong with either but I love my TT GMT. Terry Newton

Date
I'm going through the same dilemma.
Great photo of the GMT IIc. On the dial it says "Date" - does the date adjust for short months automatically, or is it like the Oyster Perpetual Date (that I own) that does not adjust on its own? Is there no choice in font on the ceramic bezel? |

The bezel font is NOT an option. Buy SS and get plat on black. Buy TT or SG and get gold on black. |

Accuracy wise, little bit of a stretch there wouldn't you say. My TT Blue Sub is just as accurate as my 3186, of course I don't check it against the atomic clock as I lay out on the beach, lmao. Here's a little girly watch pic for you feminine types, lol |

My wife has a black Sub TT and I have the GMT IIC TT. She still admires mine! Trust me, go with the GMT, it is stunning!!!!!!! Have to see to believe it! The bezel and lower profile crystal make a world of difference. The face just seems cleaner. Plus, the contrast of white rather than gold writing on the face. Take my word!!!! My two cents.....
