Went to an AD last night at the mall.

We were at the mall last night and browsed the Mayors Rolex counter. They had a great selection on datejust in both TT and SS with various dials. They had 1 WG Daytona with a black face. He also showed me a YM with a dark dial. It looked pretty nice. They also had a SD. He told me that the SD's have been selling really well and he has sold a few to a regular buyer. There were a few subs, GMTs and and some with Serti dials and a couple of Explorer IIs.

Other than that, ther was nothing to much that caught my eye, except a RG DD with a white face and romans.

The sales person was very professional and courteous and more than happy to show us watches even though he knew we were not buying. If I was in the market and was willing to pay close to full retail on something I wanted there, I would buy from this sales person just for the fact how he treated my wife and I. He knew his product and you could tell he enjoyed talking about Rolex.

More than once I have gone from just looking to buying all I can thanks to a salesperson who knows their stuff. You may find the watch again but not the service!

My latest AD experience was a pleasure, as well. We talked Rolex watches for nearly an hour while I waited for the watchmaker to regulate my SD and install a fresh bezel insert on it.

Like you, the AD knew very well that I was not going to buy a Rolex just yet (I told him that), but he was very friendly and also showed me the Cellini "Coin" watch.

Before I bought my GMT Master II from a local AD jeweler in Denver I shopped around, went to stores like Jared and Ben Bridge. Jared The Galleria of Jewelry help was more interested helping folks who were better dressed then this cowboy, even thought I had the money and would have bought on the spot, not to mention I was sporting a SS Sub 16610 and knew my Rolex stuff, the other folks were and as they said and I quote "dreaming". So after they left, the sales person again briefly focused their attention back to me, but quickly got distracted again, so I told them that I was "dreaming" about buying the GMT and left.

I then went to Ben Bridge at the mall, and the sales staff was fantastic, very nice folks. I was one of only 3 customers in the store this evening. They answered all my questions and I was ready to buy until... A group of about 10 kids appeared to be high school age, maybe a bit older. They loudly walk in and hot foot it right over to the Rolex case; another salesperson greets the group and asks if they can help them. One of the boys after looking over the Rolex for a few seconds points to the stainless and gold sub and ask if he can "see that one". Without ANY reservations the salesperson reaches into the case and hands the watch to the young man. The young kid without any hesitation begins passing it from friend to friend, all of them trying it on before passing it to another friend. I was shocked to see the way this AD in the mall let their merchandise get man handled. By the time I left there were 3 Rolexes being passed about thru the group of young folks. No way was I going to buy a watch there.

I drove a little further and went to a local jeweler, an AD that has been proudly selling Rolex in Denver for 50 years to make my purchase, and I was treated wonderful and am very happy with my purchase.

That is similar to when I bought my TT DJ. I had gone to an AD a couple of days before Christmas and had the watch I wanted and offered to eat the tax. I told them I had to think about it. The day after Christmas I decided I wanted to buy and the AD I originally went to was closed. So "I went to Jared". They did not have the exact watch I wanted but still found one I was interested in buying. They would not work on price at all. I asked the salesperson who really did not spend much time with me anyway, if they would be willing to at least eat the sales tax. They said absolutly not. I gave them one more chance and said" so you are willing to loose a $7000 sale over $420 dollar tax. They said yes, so I walked. These folks did not want by business.

Two days later, I went back to the first AD who is an independent and bought the watch with out the tax as well as bought my wife a $8000 strand of black pearls. So actually Jared lost a $15000 sale over $420.

My dream is to visit an AD that is actually helpful rather than rude.

Several months ago I walked into the Annapolis AD, wearing a Sea-Dweller, no one else was in the store, three employees were doing a whole lot of nothing, and I couldn't get anyones attention.

Exactly. Glad to hear you were treated as deserved Nice for people to get both the good and bad on any store so they can keep all of that into consideration when they go to make the big buy.

I told an AD in Tampa I was going to have folks from TRF stop by. You would think they would request watches from other stores for the show. I would have bought too. They seemed to not care that they had interested buyers.

For privacy concerns and to avoid their embarrassment I won't mention that they were Mayor's.
