GTM Master Classic, bracelet link question

Hi,
I have just bought an extra link for my GMT Master II coke from a guy on the internet. It was advertised as genuine but it has come with a satin finish to the edge of the link like a Submariner instead of polished as on my GMT Coke rather.
Has the GMT ever had a satin finish to the edge of the link?
If it has never had the satin finish I will be asking for my money back!!

Thanks for your help,
PeterT.

To my knowledge ...

only the sub bracelet links have a satin finish on the sides.

Kind regards

Certainly good that you are double checking here. Not 110% sure but what you were told above seems correct to me also.

It's probably ok ...

Hello all,

Time for my first post here, I guess. In answer to your question, the GMT II came for some time on a 20mm 78360 non-fliplock bracelet. Links from those bracelets had a satin finish on the sides. Those links are genuine and should fit fine in a more contemporary bracelet.

Regards,
Garrett

So how old would the link be then if it a genuine GMT one with satin sides? Did Rolex always use the white thread lock on this type of link as this screw is totally clean on the threads?

I would say mid 1980ies and before that.

Not sure for how long Rolex has used LockTite, but it must be for quite a while. LockTite occasionally needs re-applying if the screw has been screwed out often. This might explain it not being there since it has worn off.
