Advice on first trade?

I'm giving some thought to making a trade.

Apart from the horrors involved with actually giving up one of my precious, I'm just curious as to how other have done this logistically speaking...

Such as - who ships first? how do you get insurance to ship (I've thought I noticed that Fed Ex insurance over $10K is enormous)..and ParcelPro doesnt seem available to individuals.

The other partner is well established vintage seller - but just a little concerned about being the novice half of the transaction.

thanks

I always thought it would be cool if some of the heavy hitters in the FS section offered a broker service for this. Some known entity that can get both watches...let each party know of anything looks wrong then ship.

Usually if you're new and haven't established any trust/feedbacks then you'd have to ship first. Once you've established trust between you and the seller then they may ship out the same day as you (of course, at their own discretion).

Some of the sellers will provide you with prepaid shipping lable that you can use to ship your watch to them, just have to ask.

Again, buy the seller, enjoy the hunt and good luck.

agree a middleman service would be useful 2 newbies who want to deal ship to a trusted seller then he releases when he has both clients watch/money and takes a small fee

I don't think a middleman service like that would be worth a heavy-hitter's time.

To the OP, you're going to have to ship your watch first, that's how it works. You've got to trust the seller enough to work with them, that's how they make their money. If you don't trust them, you don't deal with them!

A "middleman service" is exactly what trusted sellers here are providing, essentially. No other middleman is necessary. You give them money and/or watches for watches that used to belong to someone else. If you find someone to do all the logistical work of authenticating and shipping hundreds of watches for a small fee each week, go for it.

Sleep on it...once it's gone....it's gone.
If it's meant to be, then in a week, month or year you can do a trade.

What are you thinking about trading....maybe we can help (or make you more confused)
