Just Signed On!!!
Hello all, This is my first post here. I've been reading posts on the forum here for a few months and I'm genuinely suprised at the member response here and enthusiasm in the message board.
It's truly overwhelming at how much everyone cherishes and enjoys their watches, especially the Rolexes. For me - I received a SS Sub date (of course) about 5 years ago. I can honestly say that I marvel at the watch every time I wear it. For the day or so out of every month I didn't wear it, I would put it in a protective pouch and carry it with me in my pants pocket. I know that sounds crazy, but I wanted to make sure something wouldn't happen to it. A couple of years ago I started looking a the TT Sub or "bluesy" as you guys call it. To my suprise I received one as a gift in October of 2007 as a reward for completing a major job accomplishment. I find myself constantly staring at my Rolexes on a regular basis and am just in awe at their beauty. The funny thing is I didn't know that I was even into watches. I must admit that although I find the Blue TT Sub is much more beautiful and startling than the SS Sub, I cannot get use to the flashiness of the "gold". I find myself going back to the SS quite often and I've been contemplating selling the TT Sub. I am also thinking of getting a second watch that is not a sub and maybe a little thinner etc. or not as bulky as the sub. Anyway, I'm 38 years old and live in Atlanta - so I just wanted to introduce myself to the forums. Thanks for the wealth of information and I look forward to more reading. |

Welcome to TRF, Sydney.
I have to agree with your assessment of the Bluesy as "...much more beautiful and startling than the SS Sub..."! Enjoy your time on the board, and we would love to see photos of your Rollies whenever you get the chance. We do like our watch pics here on TRF (as if you couldn't tell!).

Welcome to TRF. Enjoy your stay. Thanks for sharing your story. You are going to find that the Rolex brand continues to grow on you as you journey through the forum. IMHO, I wouldn't see the Bluesy since it was given to you for a major accomplishment. I know the gold is flashy as I like the SS look as well.

Because all we ever get from you are blue monsters, orange monsters, or bald heads. What's to love about any of those.

Welcome to TRF Sydney. It's OK to have a little neurosis over a watch. There are worse things to be obsessed about. I hope you post some photos of your collection and stick around. It's a nice place to hang out.

Welcome to TRF!
Although the TT Blue Sub sure was an awesome gift, I can't blame you for keeping going back to your SS Sub. After all, it is THE iconic Sub out there. BTW.: Now that you've had the SS Sub Date for 5 years+, you might consider getting it serviced soon. Even though you did not use it much, still the oils inside congeal. A service would make sure that your SS Sub Date is like new again, also inside.
