True Rarity of Rolex?
When I've purchased my Rolex watches, I always bought them out of the case. Does anyone know, after the customer leaves, if the dealer reaches under the counter and replaces that watch with another one? They have you convinced that you're taking the last one! I compare this to going to the Louis Vuitton or Mont Blanc boutique and saying you want "that one" and then they reach into a big drawer and pull one for you from 30 other, identical ones in their stash. Seeing all of those makes me:
(1) Feel less like I'm buying something truly special, but more importantly... (2) Want to look at every single other one they have in their supply to make sure I'm getting the best one they have! |

Guess it depends on the dealer's size how many they keep in stock. I know when I went to look at GMTs a few days ago, the dealer had everything but GMTs in stock.
They would l-o-v-e to order one for me! |

Some AD's do have backup stock, but not a great deal.

Yeah a big AD in an area that generates crazy sales will likely have some in their safe in the back if not on display right after. Taking the only one on display is cool but to me it would not matter if they replaced it right after or not.

When I bought my latest SD, my AD had FOUR of them in stock. I asked him to get me one from his stock in the back room. He comes out again with a..... Z-serial SD. Then I ask him to show me the 3 others. Yes....... the others were all M-serials!

They usually want to sell the earliest shipments first..
If you want a particular serial series, you should always ask..
