Very nice, it is a great thing to have added to any collection. The edition was never my favourite but of course would not mind having one too.

HEY , NOW THOSE ROCK!

Have you seen the NEW NEW limited edition of the 007? Black face with red 007? It's cool. Waiting to see pricing, to make my move.

I think the price should be the same as the previous as the only difference is the colour. Espectially for the regular one that bond wears (the non 007 edition). The case, the movement, hands, the braceslit all the exact same.

Makes Me Wonder

Great observations.

But...............(me thinking out loud).............every year that I have paid attention, I see watches (across the board) getting more expensive..............and they damn sure look almost the same to me.

No your right the prices do gradually climb. Sometimes gradually with small increases or if it is new they could change it all at once. My guess is because the wacth is the exact same but just a different colour it shoiuld not be but would only buy pre owned now so it's ok. Their loss is my gain.

Recentlly I've heard from different AD that Omega is about to raise their prices, sometime around August I believe but don't quote me on that. I keep hearing that Omega is wanting to compete more with Rolex.

The lady that sold me my Rolex put it to me in a way that makes a lot of sense at least to me. She said that High end timepieces such as Rolex, Omega, Patick are like Portable Real Estate. Because where else can you get a 10 to 15 % increase in value each year regardless of where the market is.

Now i'm not saying that if you've got 100k to invest, to go out and spend it all on watches. But if you have between 5 and 15K extra that your looking to invest and get a positive return in 5 years or so that is stable, reliable and also something you can enjoy!!! I honestly can't say that their is any other kind of investment out their like that.

I recentlly saw on this Forum someone had posted a thread about how Sub's were going for around 1,900$ at the end of 1989. Given that was a little over 15 years ago. If you had purchased a SUB Date at the end of the 80's, buy now you would have doubled your money.

Not bad I'de say!!!!!

I also wanted to add a unique story about how I obtained the Seamaster.

I was able to get this watch from a used dealer for such a screamin deal.
Well anyways they guarantee their timepieces to be real and I took the watch over to my local Omega AD and they to verified it as the real deal.

When I picked this watch up a few weeks ago their wasn't a scratch on it. Brand spankin New. I was able to get this watch for 1,700.00 !!! I couldn't believe it. Neither could my AD, she said I would expect a watch like that to go for at least 2,800.00 !

Now here's why. When I went into the store I asked if he had any Omega Seamaster 300 M's in stock. He said in fact I do, I have one that we just picked up for one of the owner's friends. It's in the vault and it is available because the guy we've been holding it for ran into money trouble or something like that.

So he brought out the watch, I looked it over. It had all of the papers, the box, warranty cards everything. At this point I was getting excited. Here I was holding my favorite Bond watch 40th anniversary no less and it was a fairly low number. This particular watch is very hard to come by. But i figured he was going to quote me a price higher than at least 2,300$.

To make a long stroy short this was a watch that I wound up getting for 1,700$ because it had been originally offered to someone else for that price. The watch wasn't in the case and being held in the vault. After he quoted me the price he had to call his boss just to make sure that he wasn't going to low and was going to get into trouble. And sure enough when he talked to him his boss said that would be the absolute lowest price they could go ( I was actually trying to make a lower offer but I knew I was pushing my luck already with that price ) since they would normally sell for higher. But since he had already quoted me the 1700 price he had to honor it. Another thing he kept saying in the store was that the watch was a quartz. But I realized after agreeing on the price that the watch was actually an automatic.

So needless to say I did not hesitate and snagged it !!!!

'Dat's whadda I mean.................

I have a Rolex and I've bought and sold 2 (actually traded) over the past four years.

I paid exactly US $10,000.00 for one...............and got back $6,000.00 for it within three years.

All of my watches are and will remain in EXCELLENT CONDITION.

I know that a Rolex is an excellent time piece...............but paying $2,800 for a BNIB OMEGA or paying $5,500.00 for a BNIB Rolex....................I just don't see Rolex as being "double the quality"............none the less, it is "Double the Brand Recognition". So that's what we are paying for.........oh and for those that have an "OMEGA QUIT ON ME STORY"............I am sure that there are plenty of Rolex horror stories out there.

I totally get where you are coming from there. Before my issues with Omega were rseolved it made me more hostile etc but they truly are great. For me the 2 things I will never do are as follows:

1) Buy brand new from an ad ever again

2) Send it to Swatch Group Canada for repairs, a local shop who can order parts will do just as good a job for less and take 3 - 4 weeks max, period.

With collecting Omega you have great chance of long term growth for the things they do to boost the brand currently. Can get a lot more watches for your money and for some that is what appeals most. Of course I will still buy my Rolexes but after my most recent visit to the AD another Omega or two pre owned for a great price similar to the one posted above, you just can not go wrong.

I am pretty sure it is the same watch and just the picture looks different because of how it was altered. The particular SeaMaster in black is a new thing for the 2008 line. Before it was only the 2254 model.

No it's the same watch. I had taken them with the black and white feature turned on and brought out the color red on the bezel of the GMT !! But I can see know how someone mite be a little thrown off by that. It's the great wonder of the new digital world.

As Rolex and other fine timepiece collectors, I like to think that were a group of people who live in the age of technology. But love to collect classic and timeless watches that hopefully will never go out of style!!

Here is the 2008 007 model, managed to get this for £1850 which is £100 off list but as fras I am aware they have not even started advertising this watch yet and it was one of the first on the market. Managed to get the casino royale model new for just over £1400 at the same time.
