ROO 44mm rosegold
Hello Trf
Last weekend I went to Rome and came home with a brand new PP5711, which was all good, almost. Problem is that I during some sightseeing came by a local AP boutique and ventured inside. The service was pleasant and very service minded. I tried a couple of nice watches but it was not until I tried the ROO Lightning struck ;-) I have never had the watch on my radar being 44mm and way to large. But I'm a semi-big guy just above 100kg and when viewed in the mirror it looked perfect. Now I'm giving hard thought flipping my gold GMT and date just II, adding a little cash and getting a rose gold ROO. After seeing the AP live my gold GMT feels cheap and the finish seems dull. Nobody where I live knows AP and I like that. How do you think the ROO in rose gold will hold up as a daily driver, office-work? I'm thinking the more scratch resistant bezel will help reducing daily tear. I like the thought of having a really nice daily driver and not just something I put on on occasion. Regards Alexander Rolex: 116718LN GN, 116600, 116200 Patek: 5711 AP: hoping ;-) |

I have the older 42mm version, love it!
Would it be an option to just Flip one of the Rolex you mentioned and buy the ROO used? They depreciate a lot when you carry them out the door.

44mm RG ROO is a perfect daily. Wears extremely comfortable in all environments.

It is an extraordinarily beautiful watch. I would love to own one. Before you flip two watches and cash for it, make certain you will love it as a daily wearer. Make REAL certain.

The Rg44 is a super impressive watch, and as you have realised, with great wrist prescence. However, whether it can be your dialy depends on your comfort level with the watch. Also if it is of any concern, this watch does turn heads with thatt shiny bezel and RG case. It's not an understated watch.

I would agree with the post above. Daily wearer is subjective and unique to the individual, i.e., one's level of comfort.

One of my favorite APs. It will hold up as a daily like you stated due to the ceramic bezel, it may just be a tad heavy for everyday but that's subjective.

I wouldn't ever say the GMTc is cheap and dull but if you are then you need to buy the ROO.

I love mine but only wear it on special occasions, a bit heavy and flashy for daily use IMO.

I have done this exact move that you speak about. I had a Yellow gold GMTc and wore it to work as a daily. it was getting scratch all over and the bracelet was starting to have more play in it. I flipped it and put in the extra cash for the ROO 44mm used. Im also near 100kg and its brilliant. even the Platona I tried on the other week I thought look like a girls watchs after coming from the ROO.
I weighed both watches and there are exactly the same at around 242grams. the reason I went for the ROO is I wanted a rubber strap so I could wear the watch to work daily without worrying about a bracelet that was made as soft as chocolate. The ceramic bezel takes a beating but I have still managed to scratch it. Also remember you are gaining a chrono function and display caseback over the GMT which is nice. Id have my GMTc back but I don't want to own it. |

Exactly my thoughts and I would never be able to pull off a gold bracelet on a daily watch. Regards Alexander Rolex: 116718LN GN, 116600, 116200 Patek: 5711 AP: hoping ;-) |

Definitely worth it. Great watch. Can't overstate how much the rubber strap makes it more palatable as a daily.
