AP ROC steel black vs rolex daytona white gold black racing dial

Can get both at roughly same price...which one to buy and why?

I like both. AP roc def is bigger grander appearance. But same price for steel as gold. Makes you think...

Hands down, Daytona is the winner of this vs.

I like the AP but not as much as this wg beauty.

Get a proper chronograph, not a Royal Oak with complication.

Both very nice watches. The AP has better fit/finish for the case and bracelet. It also has a very nice F. Piguet integrated chronograph movement. The Daytona is all gold and wears smaller. Really depends on what you are looking for and what else you have in your collection. Personally, I would pick the AP ROC over the Daytona.

If you were comparing SS Daytona I'd say go ROC.

But go for a gold Daytona!

Is the ROC no longer an integrated chrono?

Yes, it's still an integrated chrono. The AP ROOs have a modular construction.

That was my point albeit indirectly. Did not understand why the ROC was not a real chronograph

So ROCs, ROOs, Navitimers, Datographs, Carerras, Zenith El Primeros and Grand Seikos aren't proper chronographs because they have a date? I'd beg to differ.

These two watches are both great and the ROC will fly a little more under the radar than the Daytona.

I've been misunderstood! All chronographs are real chronographs, but a Daytona was intended as one, and has "proper" history, whereas the ROC is just a variant of a RO. In these versus battles, you are typically splitting hairs with two good watches, and it's largely personal preference. Does the logic hold true if extended out? No, but I think this particular matchup allows for such generalizations.

Very tough, love the look and feel of the ROC but love the gold on the Daytona, just go with your heart I'd say, no losers here.

The white gold Daytona is really nice and is heavier than the ss version. Having just gotten the ap and can't stop looking at it, I vote ap

Get a used ROC in white gold. Shouldn't be too much more than the WG Daytona.
I used to have one;
