Advice on getting a PM watch polished

I know many people feel strongly about keeping their watches unpolished and keeping scratches as war trophies. On the other side, the condition of the watch is nagging me quite a bit. (All my other watches are mint)

I have a PM Daytona that has a lot of swirling on the PCL's and Bezel. The PCL's don't bother me too much, but the bezel in daylight really gets to me. Issue I'm worried about polishing the bezel is making sure the font on the bezel is still black and legible.

Also the bracelet has a few small nicks on the side edges. Can those easily come out without shaving too much?

Also, do people prefer using RSC or having an independent like ABC do the job?

Any input would be greatly appreciated guys. If anyone has pics that would be great too!

IF it's just swirls, why not try cape cod?? I've used the product myself and it works great. Don't apply too much pressure and the swirls will 'disappear'.

I would personally get a RSC to do it on a PM model watch. ABC is good but you never know. I would get a couple quotes and see what the price difference. I was just in polachecks in calabasas and the sales person assured me that there polisher was at Rolex for 11 years and is probably the best he's ever seen. So I would call them and check also on pricing there an AD.

First before doing this I would try the cape cod cloth. As polishing too often is def not recommended and avoiding a polishing until it's really needed is a smart decision.

Who ever you go to please tell them you want a light polish job. That's very important when dealing with PM model watches.

The only time any Rolex needs any sort of polishing is at normal routine service time only its that simple then watch will be good for 50 years plus year of wearing.

I'm with Peter. Just wear it as is until the next service.

Some people like or at least don't mind the scars. I'm not in the camp of living with significant scratches or nicks. If you don't like the swirlies, IMO there is no reason not to get it polished.
Even though there are plenty of very capable watchmakers out there, I would personally go the RSC route.
FWIW, I had a nick on a lug of my TT Sub. RSC polished the watch. I could find it after the service but it was invisible to anyone that looked at the watch. They polished the nick and the chamfers and other subtle contours of the case were preserved.

The days of me self-polishing are thank God over. I would try to resist but do polish if it really is bugging you and would only let RSC do it.

Yeah let's see a pic! Advice will come easier, if we have a better idea of how bad it looks.

I totally get where you're coming from on the Daytona bezel...they can get pretty rough looking in a hurry. It's one of the (few) knocks on the model in my book. So I can see your point.

However, odds are if you do get it polished, you're going to be right back where you started...so be judicious with polishing. I wouldn't let anyone touch it except either the RSC or someone you implicitly trust with your life.
