December 25th....

Well my friends, first of all, Feliz Navidad! It has been a rough....night..day...days...weeks but made it!

Today, it is 'quiet mode' during the day as we have yet another tradition later tonight. Leftovers are transformed into Turkey Tortas (image from internet, not mine...). This happens once in the year, on December 25-evening.

So as everyone is back in bed to recharge batteries, I take some 'me' time.

We received some pata negra as a present. So...open a bottle of '13 Malbec and let breathe....then work on pata negra, which I let sit for 10-15 minutes. And now, a majestic explosion of flavors!

Malbec with its unique violet colors, deep berry aromas, medium Tanins and unique taste...pata negra with a soft texture and a full, buttery finish that just begs for a nice red....yes, I sound like Ratatouille (Pixar-Disney)

Pata negra (or jamón iberico as it is called here) is amazing, the complexity of flavours and textures is a work of art. I have had Catena before, it is nice. Have you ever tried wines from Finca Sophenia?

This is a VERY odd Christmas. 28c/82f! Usually, Christmas is sweaters and jackets, not this year. Wide Churchill sounds good!

Leftovers are one of the best things about Christmas.
I always buy a larger leg of ham than we need so that we can eat it in lots of ways for weeks.
The seafood is great in a hot climate but needs to be eaten up quickly.
All the good wine is tricky - I find as I get older I have to be careful not to overindulge (a good thing, I suppose??)

I agree!!! It is one of the best parts of holidays. For us, re heating turkey and stuffing. Add bread (white, wheat...baguette, francés...), tomato, onion, avocado, mayo and mustard, gravy and sour cream. We have a couple of panini press..each one fixes it's own. Add vino, sit and enjoy

Awesome! Yes - time to recharge the batteries and enjoy the family time. Sun is out today, so we'll get outside for a bit.

Now that's my kind of winter! If it's not snowing, I want to be wearing shorts.
