Got this winder for Xmas and just plugged it in...collection shots.
My humble collection. So far. I've seen some collection posts on here that almost made me choke...with solid gold subs alongside of platinum DDs and Daytonas, maybe even an AP or PP thrown in for good measure.
I'm not quite there yet, but I'm working on it. I recently acquired (from this forum, I might add) my first two-tone watch, a 16623 Yacht-Master from 2008-ish, in absolutely perfect condition. I wore it all week while spending Christmas with my family in the Florida Keys, and it got a lot of compliments...couldn't be happier about the watch (as an added bonus, it keeps almost perfect time...imagine that!) So, I received this winder on Christmas and got her plugged in and setup this morning. Figured that made for as good a time as any to post a couple shots of the collection. The only watch missing is my wife's 116000 OP in Red Grape (she got her own single winder for her nightstand). From left to right (top row first): Hamilton Khaki Automatic Pilot (Ref: H64715885) Day-Date. I bought this watch new when I sent my Omega off for service in 2013, because at that time the Omega was my only proper watch and I needed something to wear for 8 weeks. I love the watch, even wore it on my wedding day on a purple Nato. Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra (Ref: 2502.80.00) Co-Axial. This watch was a college graduation present from my parents, and still a favorite. I love that it can be paired with a suit and tie, or with my shorts and golf spikes. Rolex Yacht-Master (Ref: 16623) two-tone. M Serial. As mentioned above, this is my latest acquisition. For a few days last week, I found myself staring at it...and then having to look at it again to see what time it is. Tudor Heritage Black Bay (Ref: 79220B). I bought this watch new from my local Tudor AD in January of this year to celebrate a new job. I bought it with the leather strap and had them put it on the Tudor "Nato" it came with. The leather strap is brand new and unworn. This is my current primary "boat watch." Seiko (Ref: H558-5009) "Arnie" dive watch. Circa March, 1984. My wife found this at an estate sale in all original, but non-working, condition. I gambled and paid $100 for it on the chance that it just needed a battery. Took it to a Seiko dealer and had them replace the battery for $12 and it works like new (even the light for the digital display works). It is not water tight, however, so i am going to send it off to a vintage Seiko specialist for a full service...any recommendations? Rolex GMT-Master II (Ref: 16710) "Coke." A Serial. My first Rolex sports model. Bought from a trusted seller here on the forum. I travel weekly for work, and I love being able to see local time and home time. Such a versatile watch and somehow understated watch, and I really love the Coke bezel insert. I also love the combination of SEL and lug holes, as far as I know it was a relatively short window when Rolex produced this watch with both. (My first Rolex was a 16234 DJ with a blue Romans dial and jubilee bracelet, a gift from my father, which I lost in 2003 at Fantasy Fest in Key West. I prefer to think the clasp broke somehow and my watch is at the bottom of the Key West sewer system, rather than some thief got it off my wrist in the crowd and someone is wearing my gift). Anyhow, here's a few pictures. I hope to be updating my collection in the coming year or so. Thanks for taking a look, and thanks to all the forum members that contribute far more than the rest of us and share so much wisdom about the watches we love! Happy New Year! |

Nice collection and winder; I love having my watches on winders and only adjusting them slightly to compensate for inaccuracies. Strangely I too have a Khaki and like it a lot so maybe there is a correlation between winder fanciers and Bulova Khakis. Congratulations on the nice collection. I can see why you're psyched over the Yachtmaster!!!

Winder looks neat. How does it wind the watches if the watches are facing up? Watches are normally wound with the watch facing sideways, like on a swinging arm, due to the movement of the rotor. It doesn't seem like a rotor could move in the horizontal plane, only vertical plane, due to gravity.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean...but each watch is on a cylinder which can be programmed to rotate with varying frequency. Each time the cylinder rotates, the watch is rotated with it. Presumably, when it is stationary the rotor is, as you say due to gravity, facing downward. When it rotates, the rotor spins as it naturally wants to stay at the "bottom" of the watch, thus causing it to keep the watch wound while not in use.

Exactly. Watch rotates 360 degrees and gravity takes care of the rest! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Now I understand what you mean...I think it is just the angle of the pictures that may be confusing. The watches are more vertical than horizontal. I'd say they are tilted to about 65 degrees (if 90 is totally vertical).
