My YM just stopped--broken?
I just wound my YM (as I've done before), screwed the crown back in, and now it won't run at all.
I just had it serviced at the BH RSC in August. Other than panic, what do I do? It's a holiday so no one is open now. |

Could be a broken main spring. But still try to once again unscrew the crown to its last positon and then give it a thorough push in again. I have tried once having the movement not starting after winding it and it helped doing the above.

Okay, after about 15 breathless minutes of the watch not moving, I picked it up, fiddled with the crown, re-set it, and, after about 3 or 4 tries, got the watch working again. Believe me, the crown looked fully screwed in each time.
The watch has never done this before. I've had the watch almost 7 1/2 years and had it serviced last August-September. Should I take it in to the RSC before the warranty expires? I wonder if it means the main spring is damaged, or something. I'm also going to see how it keeps time now. |

Mainsprings are pretty durable. They either work, or they break..
I would suspect something less worrisome, such as the detent didn't get fully engaged when you pushed the stem back in...Your watch probably remained in the 'setting" position. I'm not sure it's time to panic yet...

I tried to replicate the experience again yesterday, and the same thing happened, i.e. the watch completely stopped until I fiddled around with it some more. The crown looked completely screwed in each time. If this happened regularly I wouldn't panic, but as indicated I've had the watch for more than 7 years (and had it serviced last summer) so this is something completely unusual for the watch. I'll call Rolex this week and see what they say.
