Rolex Submariner "M" 16610

I just bought a M series 16610 from a AD .. but I pay through CC and he mail it to me and today I went to a Rolex Service center to adjust my band. Then my friend say the Rolex is fake so now I am having doubt about it ... I pay over $6,000 Cda for it. It came in a box with the guarantee card that is green but it's in french.. the serial match the same on the watch. Is there a way for me to tell if it's really or fake .. I can take picture and let you look a it....?

Hi and welcome to TRF.

If you've bought it from a Rolex AD, you have nothing to fear. It will be 100% genuine. Some pics would be nice for all of us to enjoy.

Congrats on the finest sports watch out there!!

Plus if you went to an RSC to have your band adjusted they would have told you it was a fake, if it was, and they would not have worked on it.

Welcome to TRF. Eager to see your new watch.

Mine is a little older than yours but you can compare the both of them and spot the similarities. The other thing that looks great on yours is the latest security feature of Rolex is the Rolex engraving above the dial on the inner chapter ring. It will also have the series letter which is; "M" for your watch and the actual serial number. I can see both of them real clearly in your pictures. Your watch is real.

Enjoy it and wear it in good health. Your friend was just joking with you or he is not knowledgeable about the brand or the newer security features.

Terry, I'm so sorry to be the one to say this to you but, your watch is a fake my friend. I know because the letter "R" is missing and you can only see part of the letter "E". To make things easier for you you may ship the watch to me and don't worry, I'll pay for the shipment. P.S. You don't have to thank me my friend.

No doubt about it..genuine article.

The first photo tells it all.

Remember...no matter how close the exterior...it's the movement that mkes it a Rolex..
The fakes with their ETA movements don't fit the case the way the rolex movement will....so the Winding crown on a gen Rolex will always overlap the bezel when viewed from the side.

The fake's crown will sit lower on the case.

You can get 3M Scotchbrite green pads, rub in the direction of the grain of the watch ever so lightly and you will remove all of the scratches. I do this about once a month or less as you don't want to remove any metal; just scratches. It will keep your watch looking new.

I am so sad that my watch is a fake. I, however, couldn't even begin to think to pass it off to one of my better friends on the Rolex Forum though (yourself). I wish to spare you the dreadfulness of also owning a fake watch as well.

What I completely fail to understand about this thread is......if you know for a fact that you've bought the watch from a genuine Rolex AD, why worry about it? And why start to panic just 'cause someone called it a fake?

You know it's from an AD.....so you should know that it can only be genuine!!

Cheers - JJ

Sorry... what is ETA stands for?

"so the Winding crown on a gen Rolex will always overlap the bezel when viewed from the side."

the crown is the part where you change the time on your watch?

ETA is a movement company which is part of the Swatch group. They are the largest manufacturer of movements in the world grossing about 5 million movements per year.
