TimeToGo, thanks.
The picture doesn't do it justice. In the shop the face looks bright. The brightness struck me as possibly too much whiteness for the age. I may be wrong. I guess I'm waiting for someone to point out a smoking gun that will show me this is a repainted face and I'm missing something. Thanks again. |

Did you get other details, partial serial to denote year of production?

At worst, the dial has been cleaned. But not refinished. need better pics to tell if it has or hasn't been cleaned before but none of the text or markers appear to be washed off so it's likely the rings around the markers are the only dial burn it's recieved from the lumeless. I had a friend who passed on a no date model similar to that and it sold in no time at all.

TimeToGo, I believe the serial number is 44X,XXX.
The case is stamped BREVET+ between the lugs but I couldn't see the model number. I just assumed 6494 based on what I was looking at. The seller is asking $1,800, claiming to have paid $450 to get it serviced and replace the crown, tube and crystal. I told him I could do $1,500 and we agreed to talk about it again in a couple of days. I may try to get him to put it on a rivet bracelet I know he has on a similar watch with a repainted face. I was never shopping for this watch but it grabbed my eye and I like picking up things I bump into. It can be quite fun to learn about a watch that is already on your wrist as opposed to hunting down a specimen of some watch you've obsessed over. |

Andromeda160, you are probably right about the cleaning. The seller told me his tech gives a 2 year warranty. I bet if I buy it and get my hands on that itemized invoice it will reflect the cleaning. I don't know why it had not occurred to me.
