Sitting on a Ferry back from Martha's Vineyard a few hours ago...
...and there were 4 people (including myself) all wearing 16610 Sub dates on the ferry. My FI noticed it, and was like "wow, everyone has your watch..."
I mean, I know the Sub is popular, but the ferry only held 150 people or so, and 4 of us had on the exact same Sub. haha 2 of the guys were sitting together wearing the same watch, which seemed weird at first, then when I thought about it, a bit less so... I dunno... If one of my close firends was going to buying a Rolex, I'd talk them into something other than a Sub. haaa Oh, saw a nice Coke GMT II at lunch today as wel as a BMW Z8... Lousy weather but some great watches... I took a picture of the bimmer, but my FI would have smacked me if I started taking pictures of strange men's wrists. |

Well, the SS Sub Date is one of the most popular Rolex watches ever made.....for a reason: It's classic, instantly recognisable and is a great watch for both social and business wear, in short a great all-rounder.
In fact, I spotted an SS Sub Date at the Saturday flea market I normally go to. No, not for sale, but a young man wearing it.

Sorry but that is the exact reason I have never wanted a Sub. It is the reason I just worked out a deal to buy a SD and then when the DSSD comes out I will have one of those as well... Please don't get me wrong, I am not saying its not an amazing watch I myself just see them everywhere and I bet its one of the most knocked off watches in the world. I bet lots of people wont think my SD is a Rolex when they see it due to the lack of the cyclops and thats fine by me as fellow RolexAholics will know exactly what it is. |

The SD wouldn't exist if it weren't for the Submariner. Not to mention, it takes all it's stylings from the Sub, minus the cyclops.

I'm in Destin this weekend and couldnt keep count of all the subs. A bluesy too. That's one reason I like datejust I see therm lot but not near as often as subs.

This is one of my problems with the Sub Date. Have been torn between this watch and the GMT IIc for six months now. Subs are incredibly common in the City of London. It won't last forever, but the GMT currently feels rare.

Its a problem with all Rolexes, they just are not exclusive. Ironically enough, despite their very low production numbers (less than 30k verses Rolex with over 700,000), I see Panerai almost as often as Rolex here. |

Wait a minute! She doesn't understand you taking pictures of strange men's wrist(watches)??? How well do you know this girl? When are you going to bring her around to meet the Forum? This may not be a good sign....

This might come in handy, sort of a visual reminder to put you in your place...in case you will ever forget.

BFD, seems like every street corner vendor and bartender has a Sub these days. Only 4 out of 150 or so, surprised you didn't see tons more.

Well most where women and kids... it was the fact that we were all sitting in the same section of the boat (that held maybe 30 people) with nowhere to move for an hour ride that made it entertaining...

I'm at the family home on Hilton Head Island, and there is seriously a Submariner on every wrist. I'm talkin "Subs left and right bro." Given that I am wearing an LV, I am only contributing to the problem. :)

Heh. Boston, like most cities, is a huge Submariner town. I grew up in Andover, which is about 20 minutes north of Boston, and growing up all I saw were Submariners in their various configurations. And at the country club? Rolex overload. Although the darling at that venue was the TT Datejust. :D
