Icon7 Preordering First Rolex - Help Needed !

Hi All,
I'm planning on buying my first Rolex (a Submariner Date with Black Bezel) on my 35th Birthday on the 15th of Feb 2017, I have contacted my local AD to ask about when it would be good to pre-order this watch, they have told me that they get one every 8 weeks, and if I want I can pre-order mine for when i want, the earlier I pre-order the better, all the AD wants is a £200 deposit to reserve the watch I want when they get stock in December...

I'm based in the UK, Can any UK members give me some advice please,
I will be purchasing this watch with Cash, but wont have that amount of cash until feb 2017, do you think preordering is a good idea,....

help please

I think you might need to find a different AD.

That's one of the most common if not most common Rolex out there.

You should not have to pre-order a sub date. That sounds ridiculous. I'm sure some UK members will chime in, but you should be able to walk into just about any respectable AD any day of the year and walk out with a sub.

Which AD is it ?. Sounds like Goldsmiths ?. As above, that watch is very popular & you should have no problem finding one when you have the cash. Just ring around the AD's when you have the cash & they will get it in store or put it aside for you.

its my local which is Tarrat's in Leicester, my local goldsmiths dont have them in the window often, i work a few doors away from goldsmiths and go in once a month to have a look, they probably have a Sub date every few months, .... they seems to go quickly in Leicester

If they don't have one in store, they can call around to check stock levels & get one sent to your local. They do that easily.

If Tarrat's is who you'd like to go with & if it's a local independent store then you'll have to go by their rules.

However if they are a similar price to the likes of goldsmiths then you can get one very easily.

116610LN is the most common model and literally always available at any AD in UK. Any incentive your AD will offer against your purchase ?
Don't pay cash at AD, by credit or debit card to earn air mail and cash back. Better though apply a new card with promotion that gives you 18 months 0% interest on purchase.
Would you also consider parallel import from EU?

Can I just say, that by planning now to pre-order a watch for Feb 2017, you will definitely qualify for the TRF Early Bird award!

Something tells me that you want to put down the deposit and place the order.

Is this because it feels more real that you're going to get the watch and are in some way securing it?!

You will still be messing around waiting for allocation at the time of your birthday despite it being a year away as the AD will serve others and naturally try to juggle things in the meantime.

Wait until the week or so before your birthday, visit a few AD's and you'll find one.

You've got time so research some other sellers on chrono24 like Iconic, Blowers, and Official watches. They can get you a new one for a much better price and so no worries you won't have the cash for your BD

Thank you all for your comments, The answer to R_G's question, is YES (it does make it feel more real) and the 13 Month Wait is going to drive me nuts (in response to Daytona88's) comment...but I've gone and done it, Placed my deposit, and was told that as long as i put down another £2k by the end of August they will keep the price at £5700 and ignore any Rolex Price increase for my order, (which i know is salesperson banter, *i work in sales myself, but its nice to hear that they are going to honour the current Price), So the count down begins. 399 Days to go...(and no, I wont post a daily update..., i'll just keep reading posts on TRF...) So 'Dera' - Where's my TRF Early Bird Award... lol

Haha I knew it!

If that works for you and it makes you happy then that's what matters.
