Thank you TRF!

A while back I made a thread asking about getting my new (used) GMT 16710 serviced. I listened to your advice and sent it in for servicing at Rolex Canada. At the end of the day, knowing that my watch was being serviced by the best and most trusted location was worth the extra cost and turn around time.

Unfortunately now I have to say goodbye to this beautiful for 8 weeks

But I am going to use this time off from it to fall back in love again with my Datejust 116200. I've been wearing it for the last few days and I can honestly say this is the most comfortable watch I've ever worn.

So thanks again for the advice TRF. We really are a great and helpful community.

Who else has a watch currently at the spa!? How are you holding up without it?

Well, at least you have another watch to tide you over. Some on here only have 1 Rolex and they ended up buying another while waiting.

Can't wait to see some pics once you get it back.

GMT was in great shape save for some scuffs on the bracelet and a few ticks on the case. Was keeping +6 seconds. Honestly, it was running fine mechanically, but it was almost 10 years old - a service was probably due.

Plus, I wanted to peace of mind knowing that I have the watch registered under my name, that it had never been lost or stolen before and that great 2 year warranty. All in all im happy with my decision!

I think this is worth it sometimes. I do the same thing on some watches.

My 2 month old Explorer II is at Toronto RSC for a crystal replacement due to low cyclops magnification.

I'm holding up ok, I have backups:

Agreed. I mean, I didn't want to spend my life hiding it from Rolex, worrying about parts etc. I was prepared to deal with the consequences if it came back registered lost or stolen. Lucky for me, it didn't . I'm sure that the likely hood of that happening is very slim.

Looking good! You've got no problems with that collection! Out of curiosity what did they say about the low mag when you brought it in?

Great looking GMT, I'm sure that it'll be well worth the wait!

Actually I took it in to Ashley Jewellers here in Hamilton where we bought it for them to forward it to Rolex for me. They compared it to a couple in the display case and agreed the mag was low. We'll see what the Mothership has to say.....

It's good to have a backup when one is in for service. It goes by quick and comes back like brand new.

Good call! When I sent out my 1675 for service, I simultaneously sent my jubilee to Michael Young in HK for a 'tightening'. It was a bit of a race which would get back first (the watch won) - but like your Datejust, I had a alternate (or two). Enjoy your DJ!

Ashley Jewellers are very nice. I've bought lots of watches and jewellery there. I'm sure they'll look after you.
