Day Just 1974
My dad purchased this watch when I was born (41 years ago). It works perfectly but I don't know when was the last time he took it for service. Someone told me that if an old watch works you shouldn't take it to service. The watch needs to be polished (it has some stains in the gold part of the bracelet), but should I take it for service?

Stunning watch and dial!
If it works well and doesn't loose 'much' time. Do not take it in for service. However, I wouldn't shower and/or do any activities what involve water. Wear it in the best of health. |

Thanks for the compliments and the advice!!! The watch represents a lot to me, my Dad gave ti to me when I turned 40, and I intend to pass it to my son when he turns 40 (he is 12 now, so I have a lot of time to enjoy it!)

Congrats, it is a beautiful watch. Your dial is called a "Buckley" (my favorite DJ dial). I second advice given.

That's a beautiful, absolutely classic watch and handed down from your Dad makes it extra special. I love your plan to do the same for your son... you'll be creating a "family tradition" and because it's a Rolex, one that probably can be carried on for several more generations. Wear and enjoy it in good health!
