Rolex 1680 information
Hey guys here is my 1680. I've had many go back and fourth whether this dial is original to this watch. The serial is 39344xx model 1680. Any info would be much appreciated thank you.

I think that serial number is within red sub territory (per doubleredseadweller.com). Here's a dial archive for reference:

I've bought both red and white in that range before

Very interesting. I see so many threads with some people that think this should be a red and many that say this is a year of the white... Ugh

Greekbum knows his stuff...if your white dial is a mark I, seems reasonable to think your watch is correct.

It does look like a Mk 1 dial, however I've seen a lot of late 70s 1680s with a Mk 1 dial, so from that observation I think the Mk 1 was fitted throughout the 1680 run, along with other Mks.

with that (transitional) serial in my opinion it would be better a red MKVI because I personally believe that we can rebuild with " best -precision " the release date of production of a dial rather than its beginning production... but it is a white dial mk1 that might be right (sooner or later the production starts )
I think with white dials of 1680 there is never a clear distinction of different mark that often overlap throughout production.. when I am faced with a transitional serial I control other elements (chase back , bracelet , insert , crown etc ) ... if all these elements are consistent is a good sign even for the dial my 2 cent |

I agree with Greekbum. Could be red, but there were definitely white dials in that serial number range.
