Montblanc M...is this cool or what?

Hi everyone!!!!

Wow MB has set the cat amongst the pidgeons with this one....

I love some aspects of it, but the magnets, well they might just damage my Rolex movement

The rounded cap with the snowcap is ultra cool.
The nib looks a bit short and lacking in character.
The snowcap on the side of that flat section at the top of the pen is awesome (people will see that if you do not normally cap your pen when writing).

What say YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????

i had a look at one before christmas to replace my broken starwalker.

nice looking pen but the lid cannot be placed on the end when writing and the magnet didnt always work on the pen i picked up.

also they have changed refill shape i think so i can't get fineliners annoyingly.

Not your price range and the pen is too thin for your hand mate. Try this one instead. It suits you much better.

That magnetic cap is a real issue for me.
What the heck was ever wrong with a screw cap anyway
Magnetism fades over time, and I could see the day when the cap just doesn't fit securely.

You must have been reading my mind Kai as I was looking at that exact skeleton montblanc on that same website.....

I think the price is OK but for me, that blue casing on the cap and barrel is too dominant.

I'm more inclined to go for this one at Euro10K

I killed some time this AM at the Narita M boutique looking mainly at watches but this as well. I have two older roller balls and love this model as well but my problem is I never write analog any more! Everything is via keyboard. I'd love to buy this but I know I won't use it and if I do, my (unused) handwriting is positively crap.

Everyone needs at least one nice pen.
Surely there has to be some occasions when you will put pen to paper.
It can be more meaningful and personal to write to a friend or a loved one with a pen and paper.

No likely.

The Montblanc M looks like a "Lamy X Montblanc" collaboration.

my handwriting is hopelessly atrocious.

I have an old workhorse ballpoint Mont Blanc for about 25 years it sits at my desk with a magnetic holder in the exact same spot and is the only pen I use.

Pens for me are like foot fetishes, I have no issue with either, I just don't get it ...

The pens suggested in the thread are all amazing to look at, perhaps it's the writing thing that eludes me. I do enjoy the craftsmanship.

I say it's a boring pen. I've nothing against Montblanc. Everyone should own a 149.

Having said that. There are more attractive fountain pens out there: Omas being a good place to start.

Special mentions: Pilot/Namiki Vanishing Point and NOS/reconditioned Parker 51.

Wonder if this is where the inspiration for the design came from:

I have quite a few MB writing instruments but I won't be adding that to my collection.

I was looking at this skeleton pen a few days ago in a montblanc store here in Bangkok. I thought it was absolutely beautiful but I am a sucker for anything blue. I'm seriously thinking about this as my first and possibly only nice pen

Better be hurry if you want Omas. They are not doing well financially. However, I believe that's all fluff as the Chinese owners are pushing to produce Omas pens in China...

Correct. Xinyu Hengdeli appears to be a typical evil mainland company. But Italians should have known better than to sell to the likes of them. In an ideal world, the Malaysian Chinese family which now owns (and does a good job of managing and stewarding) Pelikan would have snapped up Omas too.

Back to the topic at hand. It's bad enough being a watch maniac, but now I'm a Pen Gollum too! First World Problems.
