Older sub with worn serial number
I've always been fascinated by the older dial on the subs from the 60s.
I've just seen a gorgeous older sub - Gilt chapter ring dial, some wear and tear, but pretty reasonable for early 60s - but the serial number is not visible (perhaps with loupe). Caseback is replacement, but has regular service dates inscribed over the years. Very good seller. Should the lack of a readable serial number make me run? Thanks for any insight/thoughts... |

Post pictures for experts here to evaluate
A few vintages have worn serials but shouldn't be a problem if everything else checks out and reflected in the price. |

If you can read it with a loupe there's no issue
If you can't it could be a factor that makes a future sale more difficult... Sold a 5508 with a very faded serial number once and the buyer hesitated for a looong time. Luckely i had some paperwork to back me up

Rolex/ Cuba:1960. papers:)
Inherited a 1960 Sub from Cuba. Sweep/ hand dial. Working. All papers, no box. Don't know if it's a J. riviera or not. Taking it to be appraised today. I think the history of a watch out of 1960 Cuba has to merit some rarity/ worth. Any ideas?

Very much so if correct & dial is marked JR. Rare to find an early sub, last one I had was the small crown Tudor.

My 1680 has the lower half of the numbers worn away. I can still see the upper half and that jives with my original paperwork.
