New Hottest Rolex
A Friend of mine who also happens to be a Rolex watch wholesaler, told me that the all gold Daytona 116528 is now the hottest watch out there. He said that for years while the SS Daytona was hot,"you could buy the all gold Daytona all day long, tody there is a shortage of them". He offered to buy mine on the spot. Has anyone heard of this? Is there any truth to it?

It sounds as though you're trying to stir up a buzz around your watch, Richard.
I heard that the 116518 "Newman" Dial is shooting up in value. Anyone care to make me an offer.

I would have a week ago. I went to all the AD's in KL trying to find a watch similar to yours with the leather band. Everyone told me that I could only get that face with a solid gold bracelet. I did try on the full gold but it bit much both in cost and appearance.

I was under the impression that the "hottest watch out there" was the one I just asked to see from the display case.

Funny ... a salesman at an upscale AD in the Pacific Northwest in the US told me while I was on vacation last month that I was the first person he'd ever seen "in real life" wearing the 116528 with my particular dial configuration. He said you usually see it with the white dial (my second choice). |

Hi Otto, you know I love that 18K Daytona of yours.
Apart from the 18k WG arabic dial Daytona, it is my favorite Daytona configuration.

Stunning watch, Otto. An AD near me has both that combination, as well as the reversed dial color. Absolutely gorgeous watches!

I was in Tokyo today (wearing my SS GMT IIC) and I visited several watch shops. I still haven't seen a new Basel 2008 model anywhere, but I don't really expect to see any of those until September or October. But the sushi was great in Nakano; and I saw some really beautiful vintage and antique Rolex watches; though most of them were priced outside my reach. The green Milgauss has dropped to $13K USD at Nakano. At this rate, it should hit MSRP this fall. I saw at least four GVs today, so the rarity factor seems to be gone for now. By the way, the YG arabic dial is OK, too! |
