Paulson on CSPAN

US Treasury secretary Paulson was on CSPAN yesterday. I couldn't help but notice his big 100-lap Timex Ironman worn with his suit.

I know some other powerful guys who wear some sort of Timex or whatever to show that they are regular guys. Some are really into fitness (blech!) and wear an Ironman, others can't read numbers so good and need an Easy Reader.

I just couldn't help but notice how dumb it looked with a suit, especially since it's a 100% Chinese product. I have one and it's a remarkably useful timepiece, but not with a suit.

Funny, 2 days after posting this I went to a cookout. One of the guys there is a retired bigwig CEO, probably worth almost a billion (post-divorce). He was wearing one of those infernal basic Timex'. Does W give them as gifts?

My Dad could buy pretty much any watch he wanted, but he buys a $5 digital when they go onsale at walmart then replaces it when the battery goes out. He has a drawer full. So I bought him a G-Shock that is Solar powered so he know wears a decent watch that should last him 10 years or so.

It takes all kind, I dont appreciate gold, diamonds or fancy name brand cloths some would call me crazy.
