Info on this vintage piece, explorer?
Hi,
I seen this come for sale locally and wondered what model it was exactly, approx year etc. I know very little about the vintage pieces and the dial looked similar to some Explorers I have seen..? Looks nice but rough shape. |

Looks like a 6694 with daphne hands. Year? Check ser#. Mine is a 1965!

Yes looks like it could be a 6694 then. I have asked for the serial number, looks like it maybe a bit older?

I am still trying to look in to it a bit more to see if the asking price is reasonable or not.

Hi Barry, the picture is quite poor, so hard to tell what it really is, but according to what the dial says it is an oysterdate precision 6694. Also, since it has t-swiss-t below the 6 marker, it will be >1960, when Rolex began using tritium as luminous.
As you can see the luminous has gone from the hands, possibly via the date window into the movement. Given the overall state visible on th picture, it may need quite a bit of work to get it back in running order.
