80s Rolex DJ crystal ...

I've got a rather old Rolex DJ sitting around and i'm thinking of bringing it back to RSC for a full service. Its still ticking fine and its doing -1.5 secs/day. As it has a sentimental value to me, i thought of getting it freshened up (new dial and hands) and serviced. Now, the question is this, i believe the older DJs are using acrylic crystals instead of sapphire crystals. If i send it back to RSC, they will replace the crystal as part of the service package right? What crystal will they replace with? Are the new crystals as thick as mine? I'm getting to like this thick acrylic crystal. Opinions?

To answer your question they will put the same crystal back on as original. But your watch looks like it doesn't need one?

Love that crystal. Looks perfect to me. If only they would have made the Milguass GV with that kind of raised crystal.

There's actually some fine swirl marks on the crystal but the feedback i got from others is that RSC will change the crystal irregardless.

That's the beauty of the plastic crystal, minor swirls can easily be polished out leaving a nice scratchfree crystal. No need to change it unless its really bad.

Yep, done that already. There's actually a more significant scratch which i've buffed out, leaving behind some very very light swirl marks. Guess i need to have more patience with the polishing to remove the fine marks.

Nice DJ- thats the same as mine, though mine has silver dial, I love the raised crystal but I always feel that i'm more likely to scratch it..
