Hey Out There

Just wanted to post up and say hi to all.

Got my Rolex GMT Master 16700 in 1992 while serving overseas in Guam supporting the Gulf war. Got it at the exchange on base and have loved it all along.

Unfortunately, while on a Disney cruise with my son, the crown came unscrewed and got salt water inside. Froze up solid after I left it in a drawer (my fault) for a few months. But I sent it off to Eric Martin in Arizona and it is now back to it's beautiful self. Although my wallet is considerably lighter.

So hi all and take care of your crowns...

Welcome to TRF and enjoy your stay here. You'll love the forum.

BTW, isn't Fuzzy Zoeller from your neck of the woods or am I completely off the mark on this one...

Welcome to TRF.

I have a 16700 myself from the last days of the tritium dials (1997).

You know, that GMT should have still been watertight.......I'll bet you missed a service or two where they would have ensured the seals were intact...... I have not worn mine for quite a while, or even taken taken it out of the "broken watches" box since I have a badly chipped crystal...it probably wouldn't be watertight either..

In any event, it is a watch worth the investment to get it back in good shape.. I think it is a greatly under appreciated model...

John

yes, Fuzzy is from around here. I don't know exactly where, but he has been mentioned on the local news at different times. And I believe there is a course designed by him around here as well.

Yep. Got the watch in 92 and never had it serviced . I kept meaning to, but just never got around to it. Now that it is fixed and back on my wrist, I will be very faithful to the servicing.
