My new acquired SD runs 5 sec faster when I wear it. It slows down to 2 sec faster when it sits (does not matter what position) on my desk. Is it quite normal?

When a mechanical watch is new the movement needs some time to break in and get used to your wearing habits just give it some more time

If you place the watch dial up it is going to gain time and if you put crown up or crown down it will lose time

Or are you saying that it runs 5 sec fast each day if worn, and 2 seconds fast when not worn.... ????

Typically, a watch will always run faster when worn because the movement of your wrist will increase the amount of movement of the delicate balance, increasing amplitude, and finallly, increasing the "speed" of your watch..

It is perfectly normal.....although I think a 3 second difference is quite a bit...

Sorry about the unclarity of my statement. Yes, it is compared with the time.gov in a 24-hour period. Thanks for the info. Should I have it checked?

Still within COSC standard but a bit more than Rolexs' standard.
my TT F-sub is about 5-7 seconds fast in 24 hr period and will be regulated during next service. I like it running faster and not slower since I can just pop the crown and hold it for x number of seconds without moving the hands.

Enjoy the watch for a couple of months. Let it settle and then check.

If it is still running too fast after a couple of months, bring it in for adjustment. Be sure to tell them how fast it is running when you wear it. Then they can put it on their timing machine to compare it with your actual results. The same watch can keep different time depending on how the owner wears it. They can compensate for this when they adjust it.

Please also ensure the watch is fully winded. They tend to run faster when the reserve energy is low.
