I have a old fashioned manual wind dress Cellini and I love it. The look on my wrist when I wear a suit is just amazing. It was my first Rolex. You can't go wrong with any of them. Buy the one that sings to you.

Agree, sports models get all the love here. Too bad...the new Cellini line is incredibly well executed. Rolex has come a long way in the last few years with the Cellini. I think it will be difficult for Rolex to move the needle in the dress watch segment of the marketplace. If Some of these other highly regarded manufactures had the same watch with their logo on it, I personally feel like they would get a lot more attention.

I personally would never buy a Cellini unless I had so much money that I absolutely had nothing left to spend it on

I love my Cellini! I've owned Patek, Breguet, and JLC but sold them all, bought a Cellini Date and am very happy with my choice.

The problem with a modern (please note I said modern) Cellini is that it no longer has an identity. It is marketed as a dress watch but a dress watch it ain't. It is just too gaudy for comfort. If you like it then buy it, but you would have to be out of your mind to wear it at a formal occasion. It is in urgent need of a revamp. Regards Mick |

I do love the Cellinium, but that's pretty much the only one that sings to me. The new Cellini line is classy-looking, but to me they seem too much like tuxedo style dress watches.

The newest Cellini's are a little more understated than many of the models past. 39mm, a little thicker, a little more presence in a somewhat subtle design. It seems when Cellini is mentioned, it is often associated with quartz watches, but the line offers self-winding chronometers as well.
I prefer sport watches, but think this watch looks nice. |

Cellini's are nice. I don't know where all this 'negativity' comes from.
Maybe many here are just purists and if it's not a sports watch then it's not any 'good'. |

I like the Cellini line-up, old and new models. But I don't need a dress watch that often, so will not buy one. I did almost go for Danos XL a few years back, like the one pictured.
And I know there are a few members who have posted in the past that they like the Prince models.

Hi,
I've had my Cellini for almost ten years now, and I love it. I bought it new from an AD in July 2006, a Cellini Classic ref. 5115/8. Whilst it's not had a full ten years of wrist time by any means, I certainly must have worn it for quite a few years cumulatively over that time. In ten years of ownership I've only really had one significant issue: in 2010 I had to send it off for a service because the mainspring broke whilst I was winding it one morning. But since then it's been absolutely fine, no recurrence of that or any other problems at all. The thin gold case has held up quite well, there's a fine patina of hairline scratches as you might expect, but beyond that nothing. The strap is starting to get a bit worn around the edges (literally) by now after ten years, so I'll probably get a new strap sometime this year. But I've certainly got no regrets, and would absolutely have no hesitation in recommending one. The re-vamped Cellini collection launched in 2014 is very nice, and very different to what came before: proper water-resistant cases, automatic COSC-certified movements, and a far bigger diameter. It's the last that unfortunately puts me off them. My Cellini is 32mm, and the new range are all 39mm, and for me that's just a bit too big for a dress watch, personally speaking. I do love the look of them though, just not quite to my taste size-wise. But then, that was exactly the issue many had with the previous Cellini incarnation, with 32mm being too small for most these days. In closing then, here's the obligatory wrist shot. |

Was at an ADs today as an Italian guy was trying on a Chellini, looked a perfect match.
