I pulled the trigger... twice!

Hey guys, long time lurker and first time poster here!

I've been talking about getting a Rolex for the best part of five years - the DateJust first got my attention, but I went off it a little. I then decided I liked the Day Date, but after trying one on I decided it didn't really suit me (especially in YG). I then had a look round a few ADs and liked the look of the GMT, and the fourth hand is pretty useful because I travel quite a bit.

So three weeks ago I pulled the trigger on a TT GMT II, new, from an AD in a city nearby to me. I love the watch, but for the last three weeks I've had comment after comment - which made me think perhaps it was a little too flashy. I didn't buy a Rolex for everyone to notice it - I didn't buy it to show off, I bought it because I wanted a good timepiece. A few compliments are always welcome, but it became a little too much and slightly distracting (especially in work!) Another problem I had with the TT GMT was that it scratches so damn easily. I'm not particularly bothered about scratches, I know they can be polished out, but after three weeks of wear the bracelet and clasp are looking a bit... meh. I love the watch but I've decided it's not for day to day wear, not for me anyway.

Anyway, I noticed the BNLR getting a lot of love on here - and I think it's a pretty sweet piece. It looks good with a suit, or even just a t-shirt. I went to the city nearby me today and tried three different ADs for a BLNR. Two didn't have any in stock (but had waiting lists and wanted $$$ to add me to them), and one AD had one in the safe but wouldn't let me have it because it was reserved (I flashed the cash and he still said no). There's a reputable Breitling AD down the road from the Rolex ADs, they also specialise in preowned Rolex, APs, etc. and I noticed they had a BLNR on their website. I popped in and had a look, it was only three months old and in mint condition.

I went for a coffee with my girlfriend then decided to make an offer on it. Bearing in mind in a few places preowned BLNRs are going for in excess of the RRP, I telephoned the shop and made a fairly lowball offer (£500 lower than retail) and after some tough negotiating they accepted. So I hurried back and bought the watch. I'm really pleased with it, there's four years and nine months left on the Rolex warranty and it's got all the b&p as you'd expect. I also made a hefty saving on the RRP, which is welcome because finding the BLNR isn't as straightforward as some Rolex models (I'm not going to say it's "rare", but it isn't the easiest piece to locate, speaking from experience.)

So here are my two Rolex:

It's nice to be a part of the club, at long last :)

I'm really happy with my two acquisitions, and I don't think I'll be needing any more, any time soon.

Congrats. I personalaly think the TT GMT II is one of the the best looking Rolex's made. It is an every day watch or an occasional wear watch. Either way one of the best TT Rolex out there. Enjoy them both.

Congrats on the two GMTs!

Is it just the photo, or are the center links on the BLNR bracelet brushed? If so, cool!
