I love the watch but not on me

You appreciate a watch, love the pictures and you know it is a great piece, nothing wrong with it , just not on you.

Anyone relate?

Sure. Sometimes they just don't sit right on your wrist, are too thick, the size isn't right or it just doesn't look like you thought it would from viewing pictures. Always see them in person and try them on before buying.

There are many stunning watches that turned out not to be for me.

Same here - have had options in the past on both but never went ahead!

I definitely know the feeling. Daytonas are a great example of this. They look nice, love the history, but hate it every time I try it on.

Really wanted a 42mm polar Ex II but once I tried it on it wore way to big for my liking. Funny that I have had other 42mm cases that I love.

Deepsea is probably the epitome of this. Everyone loves it, but half the people who try it on can't get used to the idea of owning it.

I know the feeling. Usually because of the size of the watch. Anything over 40mm looks too big on my wrist for my liking unfortunately.

Totally understand.
I love the look of 1680's so I went on the hunt, found one I loved, purchased it and wore it in rotation for almost a year. It turned out that it is just not as comfortable as my 114270 exp. or my 16700 gmt.
I love the vintage look so I'm going to flip the 1680 for a 1016.

Great topic! For me it's the 16613 with the blue dial. My best friend got one in '87 and it was mesmerizing. Most beautiful watch I ever saw. Got one in '92 when my son was born to give to him when he graduated. I wore it (just to make sure it worked you know) but I never warmed up to it.

It looks fantastic on my son now that it's his, but it's not something I'll ever seek out to own again.

No doubt. Anything over 40mm on my 6.75" wrist looks (and feels) too big.

Similarly, while I appreciate the quality and technological advances of Rolex's current line-up, I feel more comfortable wearing the lower key 5-digit models.

Sea Dweller! At 40mm with a date, I thought it'd be the perfect watch.

But it sat just a little too high off of the wrist. Not much, but enough that within 5 minutes of wearing it, I knew it was a goner!

That stated, it is a really cool watch. So much so that I often, very often, think about getting another. You can get them for a fair price. And did I mention that it's a really cool looking watch?

Cheers,

Ben

I'm this exact way with the DSSD. Like everything about it except how fat it is on my wrist when I try it on. Bummer, but next case.

For sure. Just about every Tudor I've tried: BB, Pelages, Ranger. Great looking in catalogs, websites, excellent value; but there's always a false note or two when they sing.

Yep, for me it's the YM with the blue dial. Most beautiful Rolex there is, but on my wrist it's just not right. I'm too plain to pull it off!

Yes, fortunately there are so many models to choose from if one is not for you just buy one/two/three/four... that are.
