Wife wants Rolex

Need your help...

My wife is thinking of taking the plunge and is liking a 36mm SS or TT fluted Oyster Datejust... Also likes my ND Sub. I told her that the mens prof. SS models tend to hold their value better, I found some threads on the subject but would like to get some current info on what are the womens models that hold value better in your opinion...

Of course at the end of the day its her taste and decision... :-). right? HW->HL mantra....

Thanks!

You are correct. You can't put a price on happy wife, happy life. Resale value matters only if you intend on selling the watch. I bought my wife a 36mm datejust for her 40th (thanks DavidSW)

I don't really think any women's models hold their value well compared to the SS sports line-up. But then again, nothing really does. I would just recommend her to get what she likes the most and try to secure a decent discount if possible

I bought my wife a TT Datejust. Ladies size. I like how it looks on her. Take her to the AD to pick what she likes. Good excuse for you

I bought my wife a 26mm DJ for or 20th anniversary. Not sure how well it will hold it's value. She loves it. Good for you. It goes a long way.

36mm would not be considered a woman's watch, although it has become very fashionable for women to wear them. The standard womans would be a 26mm, and a midsize 31mm that woman wear as well. I hear through channels that the 26mm is to be discontinued soon? If that happens get ready for a flooded market at bottom prices on ladies 26mm's. Women are wearing bigger watches these days I guess. Subs are hot on girls IMO, and Subs are a solid investment when bought right. I've never seen womans watches "go up" unless it had a rare dial etc. Good luck

Just a tip....

Don't worry about resale value or what holds value best for a gift to your wife. Get her a 34mm Oyster Perpetual or better yet, whatever she falls for. Forget about the money spent and move forward.

Happy Wife, Happy Life - I gave my wife a Rolex for Christmas, it is her first, it looks like it has gone through six world wars. Not mine to worry about!

Girlfriend is looking for a 36mm DJ 116234 SS. It's a great size and can't go wrong with the bigger size. Also so many women are wearing 36mm+ rolexes today.

I have a 26 mms ladies jubilee stainless steel with black jubilee dial with diamonds and diamond bezel. I want to either add the Blue YM or GMT BLNR to my collection. I'm just feeling the itch for a new watch. My date just is 9 years old.

Always buy what you like and don't worry about resale. Resale usually happens when you didn't get what you wanted in the first place.

My wife and daughter's Rolex also, scratched, battered and bruised, yet loved all the same.

Is it just males that are so anal about scratches and dinks?

That would be my first recommendation. Or a 116200 DateJust (36mm).

while women opting for men's Rolexes has become a contemporary fashion statement of sorts, there are certain considerations...

a lady at work who wears a man's two-tone DJ mentioned that the 36mm+ sizes look better on taller women & the same can be applied to the Submariner. when asked what 'taller' meant, she said 5'6" or more...on shorter women, a man's Rolex can make them appear stockier regardless of build.

so I guess the key is to be a slender 5'10"+ stone fox who also looks good in a swimsuit so as to justify a Submariner option.

Buy her what she likes and value retention be damned.

Just purchased my wife the 36mm Datejust, Fluted Bezel, Rhodium Dial with the Jubilee bracelet.

She says it's the most comfortable watch she has ever worn, and gets loads of compliments. The 36mm size will hold value better than the smaller ones as the trend for women's watches is going bigger than the classic 26/29mm watches.

We spent a while together at the Rolex boutique, I didn't really push her one way or the other, I just said get what you like (within reason), she really liked that watch, probably should take a trip with her to see what she connects to, it's a Rolex, it will always be in style and she won't ever sell it, so don't fret about value retention too much.

Wife wants Rolex

My wife wears a 34mm Air King. 34 is slightly big on her but looks nice and sporty.

And yes, within days she banged the 💩 out of it within days. Drives me nuts. But it's not mine.

Let her pick it out and enjoy.

Value is irrelevant unless you intend to sell it our from under her one night.

This.......I took my wife with me to get hers. I didn't want to spend the money if she didn't like it. I was afraid she'd say she liked it when she really didn't. This way she was happy and I was convinced she liked it.
As it turns out, this was the watch I picked for her though....
