Explorer ii 16570 your best bet. Save 1,000 more $ then buy a polar white one.

Abe your money when you hit 8k you can then spend 4-5k on what you want.

At 3k, your options are pretty limited. I would save up a bit more and then you will have some more choices available to you. Good luck,

Not what I'd spend my hard earned savings on if I was 16, but if youre sure you want a Rolex then I suggest saving a little more, and use that time to learn a bit more about which model you want.

I also notice you are asking about some obvious fakes in the Watch Out section, so spend some time learning about the real deal, and don't get suckered by any "too good to be true" deals.

first off, i admire your hard work and diligence to save. however, why at this age do you want to tie up $3k in a watch? i got pissed at my son for buying $300 headphones. but if you insist, i would get something that retain much if not all of it's value if(when) you want to get out of it.

Perfect answer to the OP, not about how he shouldn't buy it for whatever reason... Excellent!

Do you have something in mind? If you can save a little more the 4-5k range might get you into a nice submariner, which you can easily turn around and sell for the same amount (or more) should you decide you don't want it anymore. I would guess in the 3k range you are looking at Air Kings, Oyster Perpetuals and maybe Datejusts. That is great that you worked hard and saved up for it on your own.

Explorer 2 16570 . You won't lose money if you ever resell to flip to another model.

At your age and price range, you'd be better off with a nice mechanical Seiko and get a Rolex later on in life

For $3k you can get an old Rolex like a Datejust 1500 or 1600 series; would help if you are more specific on what style you like / want: Dive style, dress watch, etc.

I'd prob save that money for now. There are additional costs associated with owning a Rolex. There's insurance costs (which I would def get at 16) and then service costs. If you get a used Rolex, it will most likely need service. Service can run another $500 or more.

At 16, girls care about guys with cars, not Rolexes. If you really want a watch, I'd maybe start off with something like this and bank the rest of that cash...

*wondering if the OP would consider something along the lines of a good, used Tudor as a 'pre-Rolex' starter watch & whether $3K (or less) would cover the outlay*

on the other hand, setting aside that $3000.00 for the time being seems to make better sense...one can always find a way to spend money.

compulsive buying is an outlet that even some adults haven't learned to overcome.

I have no say in what you should or shouldn't do with your money. When I was 16 I was using what little money I had to chase girls and party...

That said, your options are limited. You can find some older DateJust in stainless steel for around that price point but you get what you pay for.

You might consider what some others have suggested...save a couple thousand more and your options change drastically. For $5k you can find Subs, Explorer 1 or 2, sometimes even a Seadweller...if you're into the sports modes. $5k is also plent to find a nice pre owned DateJust.

If you consider Tudor then you have many more options for a newer timepiece that for all intents and purposes is no less in quality than Rolex.

My bottom line advice...stalk the for sale section daily and youll get a feel for the various sellers, what they typically have in terms of options/ quality and then you'll end up figuring out what you like and can afford.

Not enough, if you don't know which one and have to resort to asking random people on the internet you're not ready and you're not doing it for the love of watches

For 3k you can find a nice used DJ, that was my first Rolex too. I would get it now, sounds like you've worked hard, and keep saving and you can flip it later for no real loss, possibly for a Sub or GMT.

16 is tough for a time piece like that. Not because of the watch or yourself, but because of the environment around kids your age which could put your beloved Rolex in danger.

I recommend to keep saving and get a mechanical Hamilton or Seiko watch. You can buy nice ones on line for $300-$500.

Save just another 1500 and your options increase greatly. You can go with a stainless Datejust, Submariner or GMT. Your options are very limited in the 3000 range though.
Do not look for a cheap deal, as with Rolex there is no such thing. Be careful of fakes.

If you are 16 years old hanging with the same crowd wearing a Rolex will cause issue's it's not an environment you want to put yourself in.

I'd go to a dealer like Tourneau or an authorized dealer near you that sells both new and used models and try on a few to see what type of Rolex you want. First pick the model you will be happy with. My first Rolex was a 36mm turn o graph which I thought was big enough at the time but now looks tiny on my wrist. Learn as much as you can now and try on a few before you hastily buy something you aren't completely in love with. Take your time and read through the forum. Don't rush it. Happy hunting and welcome to the forum.
