76100 caseback on a 79090

Hi folks,

I've read that early Tudor Sub 79090s did feature a 76100 caseback, but I wanted to check again to confirm?

I pulled the trigger on a very nice 79090 and just saw the 76100 caseback (missed it earlier).
This is going to be my first vintage-y watch, so pretty excited!

Yes. Early 79090's came with 76100 casebacks and early 76100's came with 9411 casebacks.

One more question. Seller mentioned that the Sub is untouched/unpolished. However, in some angles, it looks like the bezel is sticking out a lot from the case.
Is this normal? Just the angle of the pic?

Just received the watch and I'm now on the fence.
The gap between the bezel and the case seems too big.

Can someone verify if the left side of the case looks polished?

I can't verify if the case has been polished or not, but I can tell you it is normal for the bezel to stick out like that when viewed from the back.

Thanks!
I decided to drop by at Nesbit's to have them take a look. He couldn't find any signs of polishing, so that's put me at ease.

The rounded lug holes is a sign of polishing.

Can you elaborate? Just trying to understand what you mean by your statement and learn more.

Look at the picture here:
http://www.rolexforums.com/showpost....93&postcount=3

That is how the watches left the factory. A good polisher will fill the hole before polishing to keep the edges sharp. otherwise the polishing will eat away the the edges of the hole. I think it might be called "bowling" in English.

Interesting. Here are pics of the left side lugs:

And a pic of the profile from the rear.

That case does not appear to have been polished to me.

I agree- looks untouched.

Nice catch! With the correct bracelet it appears too!

Any box/papers?

Caseback with original sticker. I will likely get it removed when I drop it off for service.

And finally, a wrist shot:

It looks much better in the later pictures you have posted, the lower left lug looks rather rounded in one of the earlier pictures in the thread, maybe it is just an optical effect?

Holes don't look rounded. Unpolished in my book!

This is part of the image I was referring to, the lug hole seems rounded but it is most likely an optical effect considering how the other lug holes look:
