I recently purchased this watch on Portero.com, the new luxury auction site. I attach a link to an article featuring Portero from the Wall Street Journal. All watches on the site are certified authentic by Tourneau.

I am selling to fund the purchase of a more recent model with pepsi bezel from a fellow TRFer.

The Portero rating of this watch was “Very Good” meaning:

“Merchandise in very good condition for its age. Older items may exhibit very light patina and wear relative to the age of the product, and more contemporary items will be just short of excellent.”

Having worn the watch for a couple of months, I can add more specifics in the interest of full disclosure:

This is a tritium watch. Dial reads “Swiss – T<25”. The luminosity has faded, though the dial and hands will glow faintly for a short while after being exposed to light. The hands, in particular, have acquired a light patina and are slightly darker than the hour indicators on the dial.

As you would expect on an older watch, there are some light scratches and nicks on the case, bracelet and bezel.

The bracelet has 11 links, so I guess that two were removed at some point.

No Rolex papers or box, but Portero did supply a nice leather watch box that I will pass along.

As you will know if you have browsed these ads, this is a very reasonable price and a great opportunity to acquire a classic Rolex.

I have a firm offer from a local dealer, but he needs to take a profit so the offer is a bit low. Thought I’d see if I could do better here. If interested please let me know in the next day or so, otherwise I will sell to the dealer.

pm me or email me at jcobrien@dpw.com, if interested.

Regards,
James
