Sport Model/ Professional Model....What's Up....
I don't know if anybody has noticed, but it seems that Rolex only makes "Professional" models, standard "Oyster Perpetuals", and "Cellini's"..
Somewhere along the line the "Sport" models seem to have vanished.. So, what's the deal........... Does it make you feel better to have a Professional watch on your wrist rather than a Sport model.. Does one description have a better psychological connotation than the other....? is a Sport model somehow inferior....? I don't know.. What do you think........?

As long as it's on my wrist I don't care what they call it.

If it's an attractive watch that I like, you can call it "Flaming Pile of Poo" for all I care.

When I think of the term professional I think of lawyers, accountants, doctors ,and the oldest profession in the world. They are all after your money and will end up screwing you one way or another
Sport on the other hand conjures up images of competition, entertainment, fun, enjoyment, and Aussies but then you can't have it all My vote is for Sport |

Not that you noticed Tools but if you read my previous posts I made mention that Rolex refered to certain line of watches as being Professional Series.

I personally think Professional is more fitting.
If you think about it the watches are not really made for 'Sport' use, they are made for use by professional people (well they were when designed anyway). GMT Master and GMT master II, made for Pilots Submariner/SeaDweller, made for Divers (can be recreational but still not really a sport). Explorer and Explorer II for guess........ Explorer types Milgauss, made for people who work in highly magnetic fields (Radiologist etc....) Daytona, now technically can be used for sporting purposes and probably the only true sporting model made by the great Coronet, but still not anything like as good as a 100th of a second split timer. Just my thoughts |

I don't mind much either way but they aren't really sport watches are they? I guess diving and exploring could be sports...kind of, but flying through timezones isn't. Working in a high electrical field definitely isn't.
They're tool watches and meant to be used by professionals. But like..whatevv
