Skydweller going for a warranty repair >>>
So, yesterday I dropped off my Skydweller at my AD for a warranty repair. They are going to send it to RSC Canada.
The basic issue was the second hand was not hacking anymore. The watch is still within 3 year warranty period (bought on Aug 2014). It was worn almost regularly over last 1.5 years. I asked them not to polish and also to regulate it within 2s/day. That was not really needed, because it was anyways running at ~ 2.5s/day. I am curious to see how fast RSC services complications. Anyone has a service experience with Sky-d, YM II or Daytona??? |

As a general rule RSCs don't polish watches sent in under warranty. It helps expedite the service and get your watch back faster.

This is one of the most complicated models to overhaul and troubleshoot. Good luck on the outcome and please come back when it's returned after the fix. Would love to hear what went wrong with the hacking function.

I hope you get it back quickly! I've only ever had top notch service from the folks at RSC Toronto.

wow - this is the same issue I had with my Sky Dweller a couple of month ago, the second was not hacking. It had to go to RSC New York. When I got it back they told me some internal lever was broken. It was repaired under warranty. The turn-around was fast given it went from RSC Los Angeles to New York and then back to Los Angeles.
This makes me wonder if this is a weak point in the movement. I hope not. Ingo |

I had waited 4 months to get back my YM II but the damage was unfathomable with the watch, Countdown timerw and flyback run erraticly. The watch sent off to the headquarters of Rolex. Yours shouldn't last that long

Alright guys ... just a quick update:
the watch returned yesterday from service. Rolex Canada took exactly 1 month to service it (under warranty). There were a few delays in shipping, both sending it out from my AD (long weekend) and also getting it back from Rolex. Rolex used Brink's armored vehicle delivery instead of overnight fedex and Brink's took ~ a week to deliver. The hacking problem is solved perfectly. The second hand stops precisely when the bezel is moved to the 3rd position. It was not this precise even when I first bought it, and that time there were 1-2 sec delay. I used to think that was normal for a mechanical movement. Apparently not. Not polished - as requested (or, as per their policy for warranty service). According to the paperwork, the watch is regulated to ~+2 minutes per month i.e. roughly +4s/day, consistent with COSC, which was pre-2015 Rolex standard. I have no problem with that. Very happy to get it back. Here are some pics of the items that came with the watch. Have a great weekend everybody!! |
