Icon5 Do you Feel the Same way? Rolex PM has got me thinking...

I had never thought I would be wearing a PM Rolex, but I am. Prior to this, I never thought about other brands, but now after having the Smurf for about 2 weeks, I'm kinda thinking that I may want to trade up, or laterally, for an Audemars Piquet ROO...

Not right away, but these thought's are real.

Like I said I had never thought about AP before, but once I got the PM, My mind started wandering...

Has this ever happened to you..?

I think you'll be as disappointed with the steel ROO as I was. The RO is a different story though. However, seems to me you are tempted by the casual elegance of the ROO, in which case I would recommend adding a preowned YG or RG Hublot to your collection!!!

I would do the flip...but for YG RO...good thing is that you get it lets say on a bracelet and then you can buy a leather strap, rubber, and have 3 looks on one watch.

I've always chased the SS watches so not really for me. I would trade the smurf for the 44 SS if that's what you're asking

If i were to trade the smurf, i would choose the YG 42mm. The 44mm wears too big IMHO

Once you jump on the watch merry go round you say good bye to good sense and the bank manager and somehow end up with a gold Nautilus.

Yep, I agree with Tom... Trade away, you WONT be disappointed! I was kind of in your shoes last year... I traded in my WG Daytona w Met dial for a SS AP. Never had a a bit of remorse.

The 44's are GREAT watches, you'll love that SS one!

I love AP. Maybe not as active as I used to be but still one of my favorite brands. Having said that, I love PM Rolexes. There's no greater value in all PM watches.

You may trade for an AP but I guarantee you'll come back to the Rolex which is why saving up for the AP makes the most sense.

I find the steel 44mm ROO more interesting than the Smurf: dial, hands, case work, movement, etc

If a PM ROO, would recommend a newer model with ceramic buttons and bezels, or at least buttons

Not a bad idea to keep the Smurf and add an AP later

I actually gone through the same thing you did.
Fast forward two years, and I now have three APs. I don't find Rolex as interesting as it was anymore. The only pieces I kept were the Daytona, BLNR, and D Blue

After collecting SS Rolex watches for years I decided to get an AP over a PM Rolex. I'm glad I did because I really appreciate AP as a brand, the history and the technological advancements they have achieved as a haute horology company. That being said, SS APs didn't satisfy and soon it was PM APs. It's a slippery slope so be prepared once you step into AP. Now I'm looking at RM or complicated APs. The addiction is never satisfied.

I guess it depends on people but Patek and AP ruined any kind of Rolex for me, had 3 SS and a RG daytona on strap, there is no way I would ever consider getting back any kind of Rolex, PM or not, if you don't like SS there are many materials to choose from, FC, ceramic, awesome to wear and the comfort is great, I have the diver but pretty sure the other models are also great to wear, for me a SS Patek or AP is much better than any PM Rolex, but to each his own I guess, of course in PM Rolex watches the smurf is probably the coolest, but even the SS ones lack comfort for me so add the extra weight of the gold and no thanks, I would surely not wear it more than 30 minutes...

If you think it , it will happen. Now that you have planted the seed in your head it will surely grow. I would go for the 44 mm SS.
