5270 UPDATE (sticking DAY issue)

Here's an update, and the resolution, on my 5270.

To start, I have been working closely with my AD, who has been an incredible advocate for me throughout this process, on my 5270g-019 sticking Day issue (see the link below to the TRF thread). This experience validates for me the importance of building a strong relationship with an AD. It's not JUST best price that matters but also SERVICE and FOLLOW-THROUGH of the seller, whomever it may be.

My AD knew my concerns re: the 5270g-019 sticking Day issue, and he offered to work with Patek. In the end, he asked if I wanted to exchange my 5270g-019 (blue dial) for a BNIB (sealed) 5270r-001. While at first I wanted (and bought) the Blue dial version, since I just purchased last week the 5140p-001 (BLUE dial), I gladly made the switch. I never owned a rose gold watch, and while the look of this 5270 provides a completely different experience than its blue dial brother, it is beautiful. It is so warm and inviting. My AD made this happen for me, and for that I'm grateful.

I also would like to thank the many of you who offered advice and support (thread below).

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...highlight=5270

A little note: I feel it was a win either way, both watches are beautiful. But now my collection has a little colored metal in it, which is nice. I think the one who will take this the hardest is Neil --- I know he likes that blue dial 5270!

Here are some (terrible) pics --- I will cut the seal soon. I plan to make a video of the "process" for my baby boy, something he can enjoy when he eventually gets this watch.

Thanks for looking.

Sweet watch but I as Neil loved that blue dial, for me the most beautiful watches are almost all the time the blue dial ones, but in any case the RG is very sweet too, if you need one more kid to give watches to, I am up for adoption, I come with your future daughter in law and grandson, you see full package

I prefer the Rose gold and you do have the blue dial 5140P. I think you've come out winning here, congratulations!

Awesome AD and smart move IMO. The blue is amazing but I really like the classic look of the Rose Gold Version! A great complement to your Blue 5140P. Glad it all worked out in the end and wear in good health

That's great news. And, funnily enough, it went much quicker than if you had sent the 5270G for a full service under warranty :)

Both watches are beautiful! But for me it's a sad day...

If I can no longer hope for a lot more pictures of Stephens fantastic blue 5270G, do I have to buy one for myself? Can anyone help me?

Hmmm, I thought it only did it once and was working fine since?

Oh, I liked the blue.

Enjoy and glad you're happy with outcome.

Thanks, Paul. You are correct: It was the one time only, but I kept the dialogue going with my AD because I just kept having this "angst" every time I picked up my watch each morning, wondering if the Day would be stuck (I realize that's my issue, partly, but it's no way to enjoy such a timepiece). Anyway, since he was able to work it out with Patek, and since I just got a new blue dial Patek, I happily took him up on the offer.

what a great experience and opportunity!

the power of positive thinking.

either are a fantastic choice, beautiful blue or the more practical (if you will) legibility of the lighter dial.

As much as i love patek blue, it would be difficult to decide against the more legible dial for me.

the R is imho an even more timeless choice, so huge congrats!!!!!

I thought you posted that the date issue resolved itself and everything was working properly?

If so, why would you have continued working with the AD?

Why would an AD replace a perfectly working watch?

Thanks, Gus! It was a journey, in seemingly every sense of the word. And as positive as it was, my AD worked professionally for Patek and me. I feel very happy with the R version!

As mentioned above, I kept the dialogue going with my AD because I kept having "angst" every time I picked up my watch each morning, wondering if the day aperture would be stuck. IMO, and the AD was completely empathetic, that is no way to enjoy such a brand new high end timepiece. So the AD, Patek, and I came to a mutually agreed upon solution.

Rose gold, white dial and no weird dimple at six o'clock, Patek perfection.
Enjoy

I really like the RG case and white dial! Classic and beautiful watch. Very happy this worked for you. There is much to be said about building a relationship with the AD.
