Cleaning your Rolex

What's the preferred method of cleaning your Rolex? Soap and water or some other cleaners?

Is there anywhere I can pick up a Rolex cleaning cloth for cleaning?

I myself use car shampoo to clean my 114060. I
I soak the whole watch in the solution for 20-30 minutes and then use a toothbrush to clean the whole watch. Rinse with water and it is done.

Soap and water is fine. Personally I use Veraet.

As for Rolex cleaning cloth, try your local AD or RSC.

Soap and water is just fine.. There are many decent expensive cleaners available too if you like that route.

You can usually get a cleaning cloth from your Dealer but they aren't really that good for the job. Pick up a pack of micro fiber clothes at the local big box store - they will last a lot longer.

Soap and water. Sometimes I put the bracelet in a ultrasonic bath to get the gunk out of the links.

I don't clean it. Looking at it, it isn't clear why I would need to.

The watch seems fine. I do use window cleaner on the crystal in order to have a nice view of the dial.

Has anyone one on the board tried The Wash yet? It looks pretty promising, especially for the fact that Rolex recommends washing your watch with warm water and soap.

Check it out.

I clean mine with soap and water, and I'm always slightly surprised at the "black gunk" that sometimes crops up in the suds. I bought a Cape Cod cleaning kit a couple weeks ago and used it on one of my Cartier watches, but I didn't notice any difference.....I don't think I polished for long enough, because I know people have really great results with Cape Cod

I run my Oyster's under cold water every week, wipe off with a towel, acts as a good preventative to remove sweat and sunscreen. I do not like the idea of scrubbing the stainless with a tooth brush, too abrasive for me.

But once a year I soak the bracelet in Windex for 15 minutes, shaking it back/forth while submerged every 5 minutes, this is the only way to get all that black gunk out that's deep within the links and pins which you can see at the bottom of the bowl in the photo. You'd be amazed what's hiding in there and ultimately making the weekly touchup's necessary.

I also use the opportunity of a detached bracelet to run a few strokes of 000 grit synthetic steel wool longways down the bracelet to remove surface scratches. End result is a sparkly fresh bracelet, ready for another year.

Soap water and a toothbrush is probably the best, I have a big spray bottle of Veraet it works to but doesn't suds up but leaves no water spots I also have a nice ultrasonic cleaner that I use so there you go pick your poison.

Similar cleaning ritual for me except I soak the bracelet in Windex once every couple of months or so and refresh the bracelet using Scotch-brite scour pad (Cape Cod for PCLs) once a year.

I use Veraet with a soft toothbrush and a micro fiber cloth. Works well, however I can't really see a difference between Veraet and a mild detergent.

I was a skeptic, but gave Varaet a try and am now a believer. It's pretty great stuff. But yes, if you break down the ingredients it's probably nothing more than a non-toxic cleaner/degreaser from the super market, like "method" brand or "seventh generation", or maybe "honest company".
