The latest and greatest in watchmaking (even ROLEX) includes using silicone in the manufacture of watch parts.

I believe Patek has been using it in a ref# or two. It is interesting yet might also be a bit fragile. Only time will tell if it is truly long-term durable for the task at hand.

Pet peeve of mine...

But it is similar to circuit board crystals. Based on its extremely low mass it would probably take a nuclear blast to shift it out of line enough to break. I think it is absolutely brilliant technology personally.
