Vintage Tudor Sub Story.....................

While playing with my band at Friday nights gig I observed a guy who frequents some of our shows wearing a Tudor Sub. Since I was wearing my Tudor DD I decided to ask about his.
Turns out he was issued the Tudor Sub while in the US Navy, circa 1972. They [US government] thought the Rolex brand was too high brow so the Tudors would have to do. He told me that before he returned home his fellow shipmates threw him a party where he received 10 Tudor Subs! He gave all away to family and friends, most of whom still have them.
I checked out his watch and it was all there; folded bracelet, no date, in great shape. He's done a great job keeping it serviced and asked if I knew how much THAT cost! As a Wis I told him I was well aware. He was also well aware of the value of vintage Tudor Subs but just about plotzed when I told him what box and papers for those watches are worth. Unfortunately he did not save any of that.
Kinda cool to see 2 vintage Tudors from the same era side by side after two very different journeys around the world.
dP

P.S. This did nothing to minimize my desire for a Tudor Sub.
