Sub C 116610 or 114060

Question is simple which Sub C is a true diving and most complete diving watch
116610 date model or the No Date cousin 114060 and why?

This comes up every single week.. It's a question that will never be answered by the masses. But personally 116610LN because of the cyclops being iconic on the sub even though the no date is the truest to the nature of the original sub.

116610 because you can tell the date at 300m underwater. can you tell the date with the 114060? no, so there you go.
True Divers know the date.

I don't dive and I don't plan to in the future either. But a watch that can go down 300m and a bracelet system designed to compensate for a thick wetsuit (GL). I think both watches are true diver's watches. A complete one would be the 116610 cuz it has a date.

Personal preference. For the black bezel & dial, I prefer the no date.

Personal preference and after years of adjusting dates, moon phase, and... went with ND due to ease of reading the time and balanced dial.

if the requirements are "true diving and most complete diving watch", then, it has to be 114060. a true diving watch doesn't have a date (or a cyclops ).

I guess that depends on if you are a recreational diver or a professional diver. If you are a recreational diver then 114060 since you are diving for the beauty and aesthetics are important and you are on holiday so you probably don't care what the day is. If you are a professional diver its the 116610 since aesthetics are less important and you might actually have a need for the date being on the job and all.

I believe they would both equally be up to the job.

I beat this question around for a long time. But since I have a Tudor Black Bay Black, I went for the Sub C with date. No regrets.

Don't need a date once you are down under, but without the date you might miss the dive day altogether.

I really like having the date. I am a bit absent minded so I'm constantly looking at it to remind me.

To me the real question, if you are a real diver, and I am not, is:
Which Rolex Sub should I wear to the dive shop to purchase a real dive watch? I would go with the Sub, as that is what I already own.
The are many choices with greater functionality at a fraction of the cost.

I traded my date in for a ND. I could be happier. It's more symmetrical and very low key. The ND is the original sub. Just a classic.
Plus if you wear your watch on a rotation you don't have to worry about the date; just set the time a go.

114060 is the classic sub, not the cousin.
The symmetrical and clean dial of the 114060 offer perfect legibility, as opposed to the other.
Today I made the payment for the 114060, had a bit of choice to make between them, but only because the date has the gorgeous green dial option; however I always knew I'll end up with the sub, as it was impossible for me to accept the date and cyclops, which ruin the looks of it.

A true diver has both. Never conflicted. Always have back up. OR... Is that a WIS?

For diving, no date. The cyclops distorts the minute hand as it passes underneath.

I prefer the ND. Clean dial and perfect balance. Picked up the Date with my Hulk.

As a real diving watch? 114060. The cyclops can be distracting under water so I'd prefer to dive with the 114060, 116600, 116660.

So many years I thought the same. Would look at dateless watches and feel sad because they looked so good but I needed a date. The 114060 didn't convert me but convinced me if I had my Air King Date for the office and wore the Sub on weekends, I'd somehow survive.

So I bought a Sub. And I survived! Now I can have all the watches I want, except chronographs. I can't live with a function I never use. Or can I?
