Conklin Mark Twain!

I originally posted this in the wrong forum. My sincere apologies!

Just received this one and with a stub stainless nib. Don't undersell a stainless nib. It writes as well as any FP I own.

As stated, this one is a stub and it is a pleasure to write with. I have taken notes with it for the past week at work and it is truly excellent. Line and ink variations are great. This nib also appears to become more pronounced (softer) with usage. When I first used it, it was a fine stub. Now it appears to be a medium italic. Could be just my take on it, but not likely.

And it is really beautiful! Conklin did a very good job with this Twain!

A pleasant surprise!

I thank you again for your advice on the steel nibbed FP's…..I do have one with a steel nib, the J. Herbin. And Yes, I do like the feel and how this steel nib writes(even tho, I prefer those with gold nibs)!!!

Same here my friend. Love the gold nibs, but this Twain and also any of my stainless nibed Lamys write very well.

I just have to get over the idea that steel nibs do write smoothly..…especially when I have used gold nibs for the past 6 years!!!

As for other gold nibbed fountain pens…check out Pilot's Justus 95(I bought one last Fall). It has a mechanism where by twisting the barrel up by the nib will allow for a gold bar/(shaft) to move up and down the back of the nib. The bar's position allows the nib to be fully flexible or stationary and you can set the bar anywhere in between these to opposites. I'm not certain of all the different types of nibs available for this pen…as mine is a Fine!!!

Take care…..Leo
