One-watch men!

Any of those around on this forum?
As the saying goes, a man with a watch knows the time, a man with two watches is never sure.

I just bought my second Rolex, a Sub. Great watch, happy days, but life was much simpler when it was just me and my Explorer.

So is anyone here, deliberately, just a one watch guy/gal?
Or is such a state of mind just not possible?

I don't consider myself a watch collector, but one is too few for me. I like to have a bit of a rotation to keep things fresh.

I like the sub and gmt black and blue. If I have enough money, I would buy the gmt black and blue too. I think that it depends on what you like.

I can totally relate how you feel. But once you jump on the bandwagon of having more than one watch, the ball doesn't stop rolling there. Good luck we we look forward to more I comings from you...

I dont consider myself a one watch guy but dont need 10 watches.
In addition, I think everybody is a one watch person until they buy the second one.
Since you opened that door now, you should find your comfort zone with rotation.
Mine is currently 4 and max it can reach is 5.
Cheers

Just got my grail (16808) recently, and already notified my dealer to put a ceramic no date sub on hold for me. I'll be going to pick it up in the next couple of weeks.

I prefer to have that variety, since a solid gold watch won't always be appropriate/ideal.

With that said, I fear that the snowball is about to start rolling!

I need to thin out my collection. Three would be a good number for me, but no fewer than that.

I'm not a collector but do enjoy having the choice to mix things up a little - 4 would probably be perfect.

I am sometimes a little envious of people who just have one watch for all occasions no matter what they are doing. These people don't share our illness and just enjoy that rugged watch that can go anywhere and do anything!

I only own a SubC no date and love it. Currently i am looking to buy a Speedy Pro hesalite moonwatch. After that my "collection" will be complete. I like a lot of different Rolex models but i am not looking to own them. I liked the BLNR allot at the beginning but not so much anymore. A Sub and a speedy pro, both toolwatches with a beautiful history. thats all i want

Had a GMT2 as my one and only for 15 years, I joined TRF the day I got my 114060 and things got more complicated from then on. Currently have a small collection of 4 pieces and would love to add 1 more.

i slowly worked my way from one up to six Rolex, and I'm now back down to four.

I intend getting this down to three....but I can tell you that it's easier to to grow a collection than to shrink it!

I hear you gents, question is...how do you know which one you wanna keep and which one to let go? I mean...I love all of them...and I can't really decide which one I like the least. I do so wanna thin out my watches a little, but then again, I have a hard time trying to figure out which to let go.

I USED to be a one watch guy for 15 years! I had a leather strap Longines Grande Classique Presence. I think Ebay was what got me into the idea of "more than one" actually but a few years ago I got the watch I'd always wanted , a no date Sub, and while researching that I discovered TRF and now I will never be a one watch guy again!
I could go down to two I think but they would have to be Rolex.

Never entertained the idea of a collection of nice watches until I came here. Drank the kool-aid and had a explorer and sub. Although it was nice to switch up, it wasn't for me and the collection I had envisioned was getting to the price of a PM Rolex. So it was either a collection or a full PM model.

So I went with the full PM as the daily wearer.

I have several watches. Most of them cheaper Quartz watches that were given to me as presents. On the higher end, I have 5. One was a wedding gift from my wife, and two were inherited from my grandfathers. These three are my special occasion watches. Then I have my Sub and my breitling which are my everyday watches. I wear them in rotation with each other. So, in short, I'll never be a one watch guy.

I was for 25 years! It is an admirable state of zen even if I say so myself. I was(is) an Air King Date but I fell.

TRF is to blame, but I am responsible. I got a Sub C two years ago which is my everyday wearer. The AK does not have a quick set date so what I do is wear it for a change every month when the date has caught up with the date on the watch.

Now Ive fallen I can say if I get the opportunity, and I probably won't because I'm saving for something else, I would love a GMT (it would be a late model steel red/blue bezel) and one of those new Daytonas, but GMT first.

I would imagine most here would not identify with only having one watch . If you only want one, you likely would not identify as a collector, and probably wouldn't be in a watch forum

Things are much easier with just one watch. When I had two I just stuck to a rotation of wearing them daily for a month before swapping, but you always have a favorite between the two!

I'll probably go back to two soon and stick with that. I'd say ideally a trio is the most I'd ever go. I think a sub, Daytona, and either a GMT or Datejust would cover all my bases.

That's been my route....in effect what I did was consolidate....sold three pieces to buy the BLRO, which has become my daily wearer. Now I'm considering selling two others to buy something more "special" (either PM or vintage).

This would leave me with three pieces (which I think is a good number for me)...two daily wearers and something in SS (possibly EXP II) for when I want something less "important" to wear.

I had one for about 12 years (still have it). Got another when repair cost exceeded replacement cost. Sold that to fund my omega GMT and wore only that for at least five years. Sold that to fund my Planet Ocean and wore only that for a few years.

I was always looking at Tudor and Rolex but was not in a position to buy until the last few years. Now I have six watches with three or four in rotation.

I am looking at reducing to three. My original good watch (I wore for 12 years), my 1680 and my 9411. I think the others are going to be sold due in part to my current financial situation but also because they don't get enough use.

I doubt I'll ever be a one watch guy again but I was and it was nice not worrying if my watch was appropriate or whatever. It was just my watch back then.

I am... But I won't stay a one-watch guy for long. Already looking at my next purchase (DJ II). :)

I do think I'll stop at two, though.

I have had two watches for years and just added a third. One watch does tend to get the majority of wrist time but the other two are still worn. My watches all represent milestones and I wont part with any of them. I only expect my collection to grow, but I do believe that a 3-4 watch rotation is all I can manage.

I think 3 is the perfect number for me.

I've had as many as 5 at one time, but I just didn't see the need for that many pieces. I'm not sure I could have just one though...

One was great when I only had one. Then came a service and it took forever, not really just felt like it, to get it back and invested in a second. In the last year I have gone from four to eleven and back to seven. It is a hobby that I always am looking to improve on or modify. Sometimes I get it right, other times, not so much.
