Age when obtaining first Patek

So how old were you when you got your first Patek? whether this be through heirloom or through a purchase

The heirloom one always interested me as it would be nice to kind of know how old children would have go be before handing down watches and jewellery

Thanks

Wow quite cool that some here got them at 20 something, at 20 I was more thinking of partying, did have a Breathing, Omega and Cartier though, but no where near Patek prices, then I thought of investing what I was making, so my first was at 43, can't believe I'm gonna be 45 this year, I hate the day of my birthday since I turned 40, can't believe I'll be 50 in 5 years, I'll surely be in a great mood that day

Can't believe you got a 5131 as your first, always heard it was maybe not an application piece, or is it, but at least given only to serious customers, it is quite amazing, did you know the AD really well or did you buy it on the grey market?

Why buy a gold Rolex when you could have a steel one + a gold PP for the same money?

First new Patek at age 57. 5140J

Actually my first was a used 2588J (1960's vintage) from my father-in-law's law partner's estate. Age 56. Created a monster. Many since then.

I get the impression that the guy who got one at the youngest age wins the thread. Congrats whoever you are. Foetusus need not apply - until they get an internet connection, that is.

I have posted about this elsewhere but basically I ordered a G in late 2008 knowing my chances were slim, local AD (never purchased anything from them before) was great and kept me in the loop. When the G was discontinued my AD asked if I would be happy to move to the R and after an 8 year wait in February of this year my wife and I were taken by AD to collect 'my' R from the Geneva - a wonderful gesture by them that was simply the icing on the cake. I would also confirm that Patek fully controlled my allocation and my continued assurance at every meeting that the watch would be worn by me at every opportunity was important.

Read your story before, but that is awesome and gives us all some hope!

This thread is very funny BTW!

I was 33 years young and consider myself a very lucky person. So many out there are thinking about much more pressing matters at a young (and old) age....
