Datejusts now coming with just "Date" stamped on the dial?

So I was wandering past a nearby AD this afternoon, and noticed something odd in the window. They had the Datejust I'd been eyeing up for a while now, but instead of the usual "Datejust" stamp, it was simply stamped "Date".

Is this a normal occurrence, or something a little more out of the ordinary?

Ahh, you learn something new every day. I thought the price was the same as the 36mm thus my confusion, but in hindsight I was off.

This. A "Date" is 34mm. A Datejust is 36 or 41mm.

I agree with others that it is a different watch. I does not share its movement with the DateJust. If it did, then I would be inclined to consider them as mostly the same watch. But in this case it isn't true.

The Date has been around for more than half a century.
