So my wife decided to wind my watch while in a bath..
She wanted to wear my GMT Master that's been sitting in the safe and decided to wind it and set it while in a bath with wet hands.. could this cause any water damage? She said it wasn't submerged but her hands were definitely wet

I'm sure it's fine. Just enjoy it and make her do favors for you for a few days, don't make her feel too badly.

Naaaah. There's still a gasket there to stop water.
It's fine, especially since not submerged so no water pressure.

It's fine. Double lock will protect it in a bathtub or a pool if the crown is unscrewed. Kind of random time to decide to wind a watch though...

I'm just worried that water could have gotten inside? How well is it sealed. I don't see any water inside

Even if she submerged it with the crown unscrewed water would not get in. The water resistance rating stands with the crown unscrewed iirc. Now if she set the time while submerged, that might be an issue- but that is not the case here. |

Most likely nothing to worry about. I wouldn't sweat it. If it's going to bother you have a watchmaker take a peak but I would not.

It's fine stop worrying about it. Like others have said even if the crown was out and it was submerged you would be fine.

If there was ANY moisture in there you would have a fog on the inside of the crystal as you say it looks fine so I would say you are good.

This reminds me of someone who threw his wife the blow dryer while she was in the tub. She didn't know it wasn't plugged in so she screamed bloody murder.

I'd keep an eye on the crystal to spot any fogging that would indicate water intrusion.

Is "winding your watch" a euphamism for something else? :)

No damage with to the watch, but see what you can milk out of it from guilt... ;-)

Guys (and gals) here are pretty knowledgeable - I wouldn't sweat it.
Some of the responses, however, are hilarious! |
