Incoming.....Second Rolex

I got the Explorer I 39mm (v1) 214270 in the mail this morning. I know many members prefer the newer model, but I actually like this version better.

*Please do not say anything about the newer release being better than this version. Actually would love to hear others who prefer this version.

Since i'm not a noob in buying a rolex now, I found buying from TRF community to be better value because there's no ebay fees, and finding a reputable seller is the best approach. Went with takuya on this one.

Here's the photos!

Congrats - Great watch. Can you comment on likes / dislikes vs the 14060 you have? Which one wears more comfortably? Love the pair.

Thanks. The explorer is slightly smaller which is something i'll have to get use to since i'm use to wearing 40mm. That 1mm seems to be noticeable between the two. These two watches never felt uncomfortable to be. If I had to choose, I think the explorer feels smoother. I think the sub has a fantastic design, but too many people have it and the explorer is less noticeable. I think the explorer looks great on leather bands or perlon straps (I love perlon straps). Sub looks cooler with casual wear and the explorer has a more classic dressy look to it.

Rolex always did a nice job with the explorer anyway. One dial choice, one bracelet choice. No-brainer.

Congratulations! I own and prefer this version as well. Never missed the lume on the numbers (prefer the white gold) nor am I bothered by the hand length.

Nice. If you find down the road you like the new dial more i hear that RSC will swap it for you during service for a fee. So dont worry. Nice purchase.

Congrets, and welcome to the Explorer-Sub-club :)
I agree with you, as do many more people than you think, that the first version of the 39mm Explorer is perfect as it is. I have not seen the new version in person,so take this with a grain of salt, but if at first you could say that the hands on the original 39mm Explorer were short, now the hands appear dangly, long and fat.

Regarding comfort, the Explorer wins hands down.
Regarding appearance, the Sub is an instant beauty, but the Explorer makes me smile each time I strap it on. They both compete for wrist time.

My buddy has the same model, and it really grew on me since he bought it. He's also a big fan of Perlon straps, and he bought the whole color pack of them. I am a huge Oyster fan, and even I can concede that they do look good.

Congratulations Jin! I also own the same Explorer as you and much prefer it to the newer version.
The so called "short hands" don't look short to me and have never been an issue. And the white gold non lumed 3-6-9 add a touch of elegance.
To me it's the best Rolex in the whole lineup.
Well done!

Perfect pair. Congrats! Love the Explorer. I'm curious which one you'll wear more after the honeymoon period ends.
